    I know of a company in Birmingham that do trawl the internet for copyright variations and I think their majority of thier customers are from the porn industry. They have a call centre where some of the staff are basically watching porn 24/7

    That's interesting. Not heard of it done by humans in a long time. I'd be surprised if they do it for music. Audio checking is extremely fast and humans doing so would be extremely inefficient. I suppose the algorithms haven't cracked porn yet! Probably too many false positives on that sort of content.

    I dont think they are doing the identification, that is an automated process. It may be part of the follow up/identifcation of who they target for the infringement. Not sure of the process exactly.

    They’re not lost they’re just now showing in the count. When it first came back it showed 6, but when you clicked on the follower list it showed more than that. It’s just a big that happens when an account is reinstated. The number will come back.

    I'm afraid it is law firms and they do openly trawl. I've been involved in 2 cases, one at my cricket club and one at my ex-employer. Both cases involved photos freely available on the Internet.

    This is one of the companies that do it.

    We weren’t found to have violated any policy on this occasion and were reinstated. The majority of music we use on twitter is royalty free or paid for as part of a subscription package.

    We had a pair in San Francisco a few years ago when the ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) 504 was introduced.
    A guy in a wheelchair and his attorney would go around businesses in SF, and when his wheelchair access was not OK, he sued them.
    As SF is an old city, in USA terms, he found many such places. They closed down many family businesses, which had been around decades.
    It is certainly not why the act was introduced and their behaviour was not within the spirit of the law.
    Been such a litigious city, state and country though, they made a killing.
