The result was correct. They couldn’t make a decision from where they were stood... they were too far behind play.

Shearer, Lineker, Richards and the IT guys at the BBC all say he’s onside, as well as the ref and assistants.

Looked dubious, but after the replay it was clear.

We should have been 1-0 down and 1 man down after Sibbick’s tackle.....

And the comments about gender are pathetic. Most officials struggle to keep up with play due to the modern day speed of players - hence VAR. Massey is probably quicker than most I’ve seen too.

She did make a decision, and got it right.

That was my point of view. On the original pass to the player on the scorer was clearly offside. As he is contesting the with the defenders directly in front of the goal, and thus affecting what the defenders do, surely he is clearly interfering with play. Is that not considered to be offside, before the eventual final pass and before he he even touched the ball?

She could make a decision and it was the correct one.

12 yards? She’s about a yard behind our defence who also didn’t keep up...

The fact that she is female is irrelevant. The fact that she was so far behind play to be able to make a decision is entirely relevant and worthy of criticism. Abraham was miles offside when the phase of play began and if she'd been up with play would surely have called it.

But Abraham himself just said Sibbick's tackle was good.

The desperate criticism for not being in line is laughable. In order for officials to be in line at all times they'd need to be able to run faster than the fastest strikers.

We lost to Chelsea. A top 6 prem team.

We could have been a goal down in the first have to a penalty not being awared so when an official got a decision wrong in our favour i didnt hear many dissenting voices.

We created some good chances bit against a top team.you have to take them.

We didnt let ourselves down.on national tv and i am proud of the lads.

They decided not to put their flag up. Luckily for them it was right and just... but they had no idea. The assistant at the other end didn’t spot the fact that sibbick kicked the strikers foot from under him either. Poor decision. Clearly couldn’t see it.

Why when I criticise an assistant for not keeping up with play, everyone is suddenly feminists on here? Nothing to do with the sex of the lines person, but it was a fact they didn’t have a valid line of sight to make any decision.

I’m not sure why you’d ask that.

There are plenty of sexist comments on this thread and the big colliers match thread. It’s to them I’m referring.

You have commented on the decision and the position she was in when she made it, pretty exclusively.

Your only reference to her gender was to use ‘she’ to describe her, so no it wasn’t aimed at you. Crititicisong and questioning her decisions is perfectly fine whether we agree he was offside or not - I’m still not 100% sure but I think he’s on to be honest.

You have overegged how far behind play she was mind you!

Didn't look at the forum during the game, but knew thsi thread would exist, especially as it was Sian Massey's call. He was behind the ball when it was played so it should stand, although I was kind of hopeful there was a mistake in there to give us hope. The bit that made me laugh was Keowns comments about not having a go at the officials in these situations and giving them respect. Yes Martin, like you always did!!!. Also in response to Dubtykes comment, whilst we should have had a penalty against us and the likely hood that we would have gone behind, because Sibbick tried to play the ball, he would only have received a yellow not a red card.

Where in my comments do I mention that she wasn't up with play due to her gender?
