    Apparently Johnny Bairstow is back for the final two tests so he should return as a specialist batsman and leave Foakes with the gloves. Dan Lawrence is a bit out of his depth

    Is Zak Crawley fit? If so he can replace any of Sibley or Burns as opener.

    To be fair I don’t think Jimmy would have got anything from this pitch.

    I’d have kept Bess on but Mo did quite well overall. Likewise I’d have kept Buttler on but Foakes did really well.

    Day nighter next test which will hopefully bring our seamers into it. Get Jimmy back in, Bairstow for Lawrence and possibly Crawley for Burns although Crawley himself was all over the shop in Sri Lanka.

    I think the damage has been done now, why oh why did Silverwood fanny around with the team selection?! Very similar pitches likely to be prepared in Ahmedabad for the next two test matches.

    I’m still not sure you can blame the rotation policy. As I said, Anderson wouldn’t get anything out of this pitch. The way he bowls Broad had more chance and he got nothing. Archer injured, Mo and Foakes did well. Where’s the rotation policy to blame?

    I questioned Moeen Ali being picked over Bess but him and Leach are our frontline spinners for the third test.
