13 in 23 starts this season, top rated player in the division on WhoScored.com. Wish we had kept him.
Interesting to see how he is getting on with Mick McCarthy as he didn’t rate him at Ipswich and got rid to us
Selling him almost got us relegated. Not replacing him early enough may have cost us a playoff place this season. A terrible bit of business.
His contract would’ve been up at the end of this season, so would’ve been some suggestion we should’ve sold him last month if he was still our player. Also means that hopefully there’ll be less talk about him next season. Otherwise, we may as well still be talking about Stones and Hourihane
It's (usually) great to see former players succeed and develop when they move away. Kiefer was great for us. Underrated player with the ball at his feet. Scored some great goals and his partnership with Woodrow would have been phenomenal had it been allowed to develop. Provided me with one of my best moments as a fan when he returned from that terrible head injury and got a wonderful standing ovation when he came on as a sub at Oakwell towards the end of the promotion season. We knew then that we were definitely going up. I later spoke to him about that ovation from the fans. He said it was one of the best moments of his career; he told me that as he was running on he had to look down at the grass and not catch anyone's eye because 'he'd got some grit in his eye'.
No complaints about his attitude during his time with us. Really gave us a big lift when it was announced he was back after the head injury. He was very polite when meeting my son as well
It's in the past. We need to focus on building a squad capable of withstanding a sale of an Andersen, Woodrow, Styles and a Brittain. In the main I think that's what the board are trying to achieve. When we can sell assets and bring in players like for like and challenge for the play-offs we'll have made it back to the period between 1995 and 2000 for me.
If we sell all four of those, as well as losing Mowatt, Ismael would leave and we'll be relegated next season. No doubt about it at all.
I agree but my point is we're moving towards having a squad capable of coping with major departures when they occur and that could withstand one per season as part of the business.
Agree - except for Anderson. Not to have a pop but I'm still not sure. I'd like to be, but I'm not yet.
Yeah so joining a smaller club, in a town known for Rugby, to play in front of small crowds was the natural next step for him. 90 minutes of one greedy ******* being sung at him by thousands of tarn fans in our 0-0 there.
I'm also not sure about him. He can play brilliantly for large spells then do something stupid. Another daft free kick from him just before half time very nearly cost us on Sunday. If an offer came in for him, and it meant we kept the rest of the first team, it wouldn't concern me too much. Just hope we don't go back to selling 3 or 4 in a window.
I think the club are touting him when they mention there have been clubs linked. Yes he's improved but he still makes my shoulders hunch up whenever he gets the ball.
I've got some Swan Vestas in my hand and I'm now about to light some Blueish paper. Might be a 'Rugby Town' but they are still a bigger Club that we are who have achieved more in the 20 minutes they have been in the League (1978) than we have in over a 130 years. Nailed on they will be in the Premiership before us as well no matter what difficulties they currently face. But then, could say the same about Bolton, Bradford, Sunderland, Ipswich, Forest Green Rovers and Penistone Church. Edges slowly to the door.........
On the other hand. I struggle to see why a club our size with a history of second tier football has only ever had one season in the top flight.
Mr Dawson. You and I both. We've spent more seasons in this Division than any other side in English football history and the fact we've only made the top flight once (though Arsenal and the FA cheated us in 1919) and then only for a year, is embarrassing. But not as embarrassing as those of our Fans who think we should be grateful to be rubbing shoulders with the 'big boys' in the Championship. B0llocks to that.
I agree or they say "we're over achieving", "punching above our weight". We're massively under achieving.
