It shows how effective he is that, when we had a ball knocked in behind I was surprised that their keeper wasn't sweeping it up, but instead stayed on his line
Giving me the heeby geebies a couple of times being that far out. Can't understand why they didn't shoot from distance with him being so far up the pitch. Not complaining this morning though
He had that much free time, yesterday, he ought to have paced out the shape of a c0ck and balls just for the comedy effect on his heat map. Though I am not sure I fully understand how it works as it also looks like he took a couple of corners too. Rayt keeper!!!
I'll be honest, it's a heat map of Mesut Ozil from 3 years ago. But I bet Brad's is similar from yesterday, minus the corners.
I like Walton but Collins is playing brilliantly with 4 clean sheets in his run of 7 games, unlucky not to get one against Blackburn and Chelsea too.
You sly fox you!! I’m off to check Brad’s wiki page now to see if he is listed as having scored a hat trick of overhead kicks from the halfway line too.
Had a really good game yesterday IMO. Took the pressure off us plenty of times coming out & clearing the way he did
2 excellent goalies. What’s not to like. We seem to be much better out wide in defence as well. Restricting opponents chances. The stats show that a lot more of late.
This was Brad Collins yesterday afternoon: https://www.istockphoto.com/video/y...some-music-and-smoking-a-gm583286416-99861057
That's Brad taking a wazz when we were taking our corners isn't it, cos Brizzle didn't have any corners
I don’t like it. For me, most of the time it’s unnecessary and we will concede too many goals from it.
You are right. As in the Blackburn game. But VI doesn’t sit back and defend, even with moments to go. How many times have we ripped teams apart and then sat back to defend a lead. Us fans Screaming. Get it art. Panicking like mad. The high press has its downfalls. Hence the goalie becomes a sweeper. Walton was criticised for doing the same, by some, Some teams will exploit it. But most of our weaknesses have been worked on and the performances show it of late.
Correct maye. VI's got some very interesting ideas and formations. Can't wait for us to get to 50 points and then "he takes the brakes off"
It's a risk/reward thing. If it starts costing us points, it will need looking at, but at the minute it's proving very, very effective. It may come unstuck against the quicker players(as it did sgainst Armstrong, but he also needs commending for finishing the chance too) though, and sooner or later an oposition manager is going to come up with something to counter it, but for now it;s fine...
In every game other than yesterday Collins has been starting too deep and on a few occasions ended up in no man’s land. We got lucky a couple of times against Blackburn because he was neither committed or sitting back. Felt obvious yesterday that Val had given him the instruction to start higher each time and as a result he was always there to clear up. I was never really worried it was going to lead to a goal as he wasn’t under pressure, just far out of his area, and putting it out for a throw in is better than the striker bearing down on goal. The Blackburn goal was just bad decision making and a bad starting position rather than a fault with the tactic of a sweeper keeper. Appears Val rates Collins as the better goalkeeper but wasn’t prepared to play him until he’d got to grips with what’s needed when we’re out of position, and yesterday he was much, much better on that front.
