Several weeks ago I posted that my Dad was in hospital fighting for his life.

Although he has signs of dementia, skin cancer and 101 other ailments he's a tough old nut and started to recover. He then contracted COVID & was moved to a COVID ward. He was asymptomatic, so after a few days they decided to return him home, to his carer, my 79 year old Mum.

Mum got really ill on Monday, so much so that the visiting nurse arranged respite care for my Dad in St James Court, Hoyland on Thursday. I travelled down Friday to look after my Mum, who I was shocked to see looking so ill. Just like a wraith TBH. This was the first time I'd seen her for months, as I live in Headingley & was following the rules, just calling her every few days. Dad is deaf so I can't speak to him without sign language or a bit of paper.

Bearing in mind they neither got vaccinated, as Huddersfield Road Surgery could not be arsed to arrange the NHS sending anyone out (Dad is 84, Mum 80 on 4th March) to do this I want to hit the ******* roof.

No one had arranged a test for Mum, so i ordered a home test on Friday, which was here at their house on Saturday morning. I did it for her & the positive result texted to me Sunday afternoon. I'm now down in Barnsley for 14 days isolating & trying to sort out my parent's affairs.

When Matt Hancock tells me he's doing a great job I want to kick him in the balls & smash his smug, lying face in.

    Just that.

Huddersfield Road Surgery is a disgrace, they certainly have no comprehension of what SERVICE means.

    Hi mate,
Sorry to hear about what you’re all going through at the minute, I’m only in Carlton but if you need any help with anything like food shopping I’m more than happy to help, easy to sort safely and social distancing, please don’t hesitate to pm me pal, I’m currently furloughed so plenty of time on my hands.

Give em hell mate. Protocols for example in some surgeries are a joke. They’ve lost the human touch. (Speaking from experience, not my own I may add.) Not enough people speak out, especially the elderly as they don’t want to appear a nuisance.
I Hope all turns out ok. It must be a very worrying time.

All the best to you and your family. Sadly I can't offer any easy comfort, but I can share in your disgust at those who have been charged with getting us out of this. My elderly relatives have suffered with the disease too. Thankfully all made it through despite one or two getting quite ill. I pray for that same outcome for you, obviously minus the quite ill part.

I've put a formal complaint in to Huddersfield Road Surgery, not heard anything back though; however, I do now expect to get my covid vaccine in April 2022 when they find one in the back of a cupboard which should have been shipped off to a third world country.

They should take your complaint on board. And most folk would. Then act in a positive manner. Sadly some go the other way and reject criticism out of hand.

The only plus point in all this was I got my Pfizer jab last Tuesday. (I'm only 55, but technically in a high risk group due to being born with a hole in the heart).
I have quite a bad headache, so I'm guessing I'll get mild symptoms. Looking after my Mum I know I can't avoid it.

Horrible story and chain of events for you mate. And a story the media would never tell. As you say Hancock is doing a wonderful job.
Here’s hoping things vastly improve for your parents and if you do ever get the chance to boot Hancock please give him a sore one from me.
    All the best mate.

Thanks mate, yes we're on Smithies Lane, so not a million miles away. A couple of neighbours have offered also, but thanks, if needs be I may take you up on that. Food wise we should be OK for this week & I may be able to get a Morrisons delivery. My Mum shops at Morrisons in town normally & it may be good to help her having a go at an online order, if she is feeling a bit better at the end of the week. She normally is OK with online ordering via Amazon, but isn't up to it at the minute.

I think we only met once. It was in the Number 7 with Whitey, probably about 5 years ago I guess.

Disgusting attitude of the GP practice and, sadly, not unique with this approach.
All the best to you, your parents both now and in the future.
