I agree that he pulls out of it a bit. Although, that replay is slowed down. Whether it looks the same in real time, I’m not sure.
I’m guessing because it was early on in the game, the ref let him off maybe? Absolutely no need to be going in that high.
Hmm. He did try to pull out of it and his immediate reaction was of dismay. Reckless rather than vicious. Still a red, mind. As an aside, the bloke who tweeted it once replastered my house!
Yep he certainly doesn’t extend he leg any further and stamp out (that would have broken his leg) but the referee should take into consideration the height of the challenge, whether studs are showing and also where the ball is..... taking all those things into account, it’s a red card all day long I think. Had it been in the 60th minute I think he would have given it.
I agree. In my opinion the McGheegan one was a lot clearer a red than this and most people on here were raging about that.
What makes it worse is that he's just booked one of our players for a nothing incident moments earlier.
I agree, I think it's a red card, but as Revvie P says I reckon it's reckless rather than malicious. Because we won, because Woodrow is OK and because I genuinely don't think he meant to do it I'm not upset by it. I don't know the lad but his reaction suggested it's not a challenge he'd usually put in but an error of judgement. That he didn't get a red doesn't mean he'll do it again. That heart in the mouth moment he had when he thought he'd hurt someone will stop him.
Yep agree with that. I guess I’m just getting annoyed by the number of decisions not going in our favour. I’m probably totally biased. Well, I am. But even when I look at things after the match in an objective fashion, I can’t help but think we are getting a raw deal on decisions that can influence the outcome of matches. There are countless penalties that we could / should have been awarded this season.
I hate ths rule. I kind of understand the thought behind it(to keep the referee's authority intact as much as possible and not undermine them too much), but the decision was clearly the wrong one as shown by the video evidence, and could have led to a major injury. If ever the FA/FL's ability to punish an on pitch action retrospectivly is warrented, then this is it...
Potential leg breaker that, had he gone in with full force. Maybe he tried to pull out but with studs that high I thought it was an automatic red card. Not when we are involved obviously. With VAR seemingly infiltrating the game on a permanent basis now I don't see why video footage like this can't be used for retrospective punishment for the offender (like McGeehan) and a kind of de-merit points system for refs who miss obvious dangerous play. Let it mount up to a certain score and the ref gets a long ban from the game. Something needs doing, no doubt.
Yes, this was the first booking in the 4th minute iirc. Mowatt then got booked late on, then a minute later Bakinson for BC didn't get booked for a worse challenge
I cant believe how many key decisions in games and even the balance of decisions have been going against us this year. I genuinely think the standard of refereeing is awful not just for us, but there have been very few games in the last say 10 that i could say were evenly refereed let alone favoured us. Refs seem to miss a lot and even worse spot things that didn't even happen. If these things balance out over a season we will have one hell of a run of decisions going our way coming up
We were getting too many penalties earlier in the season; the powers that be have had to correct that.
Blatant handball on the line from Mowatt's corner on 11 minutes. Alex would have scored direct from the corner had it not been for a little movement of the arm.
