I certainly don't want them to go bust, I don't give a 5hit about their players, they will move on to other clubs, I do feel for the people behind the scenes though who won't find it as easy to get employment, the kit man, canteen staff, the ones who work in their superstore, shops and fast food places around the ground who rely on matchdays ( they've been hit obviously with covid) the old lads who sell programmes, to some of them it could be their only bit of socialising they do, tbh I would rather play them in the championship ( post lockdown) for me it adds to the excitement plus the additional money for our club

Bankruptcy to the point of liquidation, so that they cease to exist and a Phoenix club pops up in the eighth tier or something? No, I don’t want that.

The chickens actually coming home to roost though, with the club suffering an insolvency event, administration probably, receiving a proper punishment and points deduction due to it and having to start from the bottom, from league one or even two like Bolton or Wigan? I’m sorry, you reap what you sow. In that case, sadly many local businesses will be paid maybe only 5p in the pound of what they are owed, and many people will find themselves unemployed. That is awful and not something I relish. However with the state they are in, something will have to give. And when it does, the club needs to accordingly suffer for the mismanagement that has led to this point. They have skirted around the rules and lived way beyond their means.

Without the jokes about how massive they are, with their fan base, they should be able to recover and be a championship club again within a few years as after resetting they should naturally generate a lot more money than most lower league clubs. Assuming all of their ‘die hard’ following, the WAWAW brigade, will still pay for tickets to watch them against Barrow and Morecambe of course. Sufficient numbers of them probably will, their league one crowds were relatively decent last time they were down there.

Everyone connected to the English game will agree that Sheffield Wednesday are a basket case club, they are not alone, we ourselves, in the not too distant past, have been very close to the edge of extinction either by being badly run by owners, chairmen or whatever, indeed, I was present at a post match talk given by David Hirst in the bar of the executive suite in the east stand some years ago when he stated quite clearly that he was sold to Wednesday to save the club from almost certain closure.
The period of time when many clubs lurched into administration is still quite fresh in my memory, that particular era was worrying for all football supporters and bizarrely after the dust settled and clubs were bought and sold with great regularity, with it came the desire for instant success, that success was of course relative to your clubs perceived position in the pyramid of the league structure. Sheffield Wednesday are a prime example of this and why it just does not work, Leeds United suffered the same shock of 'But we're Leeds United, this is not where we belong' syndrome, the list is long and littered with tales of money mismanagement, bitterness and jealousy, we for the most part know what we are, the size of our town dictates that, we occasionally punch above our weight we also suffer relegation, but, we exist to fight our way back because, thank goodness, our owners recently have learnt that a solid financial base is fundamental requirement for planning for any development in league status.
The vast majority of supporters DO NOT want a club like Sheffield Wednesday to go out of existence, but, perhaps it may take a club like Sheffield Wednesday to go bust to create a catalyst for change, parity and clarity with regard to finances within the game.

What Wednesday did was wrong, for me it was the Winnall signing was the final nail.
They signed a player from at that time a close rival in the league, paid him £18k per week to sit in the stands when they had another 6 highly rated strikers on over £30k per week each already in the team / squad.
It was financially and morally wrong and as such if they pay for that with bankruptcy then so be it. They were belittling humiliating BFC over that signing, the arrogance of there fans some of who I worked with was disgusting at the time. Comments of we took him off you because we could and they didn't want or need him. I have no sympathy and if they go out of business then maybe it will change the game for the better.

Agree mate. It's the we took him because we were bigger and better than you, and we're going to the Premier League. We can pay players what we like, when we like because we're PL bound. Well be careful what you wish for SW, because inevitably what goes around comes around

They are like that weird Uncle at family parties that no-one really understands or wants there but you would miss them if they weren't there.

Sorry if you are that weird Uncle at parties.

As much as there our rivals I’d never want to see any club for to the wall, let’s not forget we’ve been in the **** before and it’s not nice

It’s not nice that true. But they aren’t a nice club. I can guarantee they weren’t offering much sympathy to us. If they were a small club trying to do the right thing I’d have a thought for them. As it is they can get bent.

I don't want them to go out of business, just spend the next 20 years in League 2 would be ok.

Love it if they went out of business.

Its funny seeing them pin all their hopes on Paul Cook......

I've not, explicitly. But from reading their forum it seems pretty clear that they're in a reasonable amount of financial bother.

If you want another football team to go bust, you're not a football fan in my opinion.
