It's Christmas all over again! Bizarre all round for Moore, Donny and Wednesday. Panic buying at best.
Saw it was rumoured on Porktalk. I'd love to know his thought process. Wouldn't you want to try and get a promotion at least on your C V and then swap clubs?
You know what, this could be us next season, big Val will certainly be getting attention & he could be off to a bigger club on bigger wages. I try not to get too attached to players or managers, if only there were more Rimmo's about.
6 figure compensation package to get Moore and his assistant from Donny despite being brassic. Last 5 Donny games lost 4 and drawn 1. Owls logic.
As frustrating as it is, it does make sense. They are a historically bigger club (basket case of not) and he will believe in his own abilities as a motivator to catch those few wins up to stay up as a free hit, or failing that have more chance of promotion with them next season than Donny realistically have this season. Not that I agree ethically. It is only the same as here, do you think big Val would be here by the end of the week if Fulham or West Brom (probably even sheff U) called him up this morning? He’d seize the opportunity to bet on himself and keep them up or get them up next season in a heart beat in place of a shot at the play offs with us. Sadly the way it goes. Money talks.
Wednesday's financial status is well-known, and they're generally acknowledged to be a basket-case at present in terms of the general running of the club. From his perspective, it's probably a high-profile role with low downside, where anything other than relegation this season will be viewed as a huge success on his part. He'll no doubt be well paid, and if/when he's ultimately scapegoated for failure, there'll be little chance that his reputation has worsened and a significantly higher chance that it will have improved by simply choosing to take it on. Staying put at Donny potentially carries more risk of perceived failure if their current wobble continued. I'm sure he'd want to finish the job there, but this is an opportunity to get a 'quick-win' in a higher profile situation. I'm sure he's the type of character that would want to take on a challenge like that.
Yeah it could be like Heckingbottom. There was a slight risk of him receiving his p45 before he went to Leeds. The same might be said about Moore.
I guess money talks but it is a bizarre decision in my opinion. Donny have 4 games in hand over Hull I think and sit in the playoff spots. This isn't going to end well.
This just goes to show how out of touch the football world is from the rest of reality. What is Darren and his his agent thinking? A club who are struggling to pay wages to players and staff and have yet to submit accounts staring down the barrel of admin etc etc. Doesnt that tell you something?? Good luck fella though...i do like him.
