Jose Morais wasn’t that bad. He picked up a terrible team playing 11 men behind the ball and nearly kept us up. Heckingbottom did a worse job that season. What’s yours?
Good idea for a thread - disagree with your particular assertion though! Callum Styles will play as wing back all his career - I don't think he should move into the middle as many hope for.
I don't mind the other clubs in our area. Perhaps only Wednesday due to their financial shenanigans. But I don't mind the fans of any clubs really. Why wouldn't they be supporting the club where they're from? Plenty of people seem to be ferociously opposed so any for of support for certain clubs though. Hence I think this may be a somewhat unpopular opinion.
Tbh, whilst we know how callum can be a genius on the ball, hes certainly made that wing back position his own. And is a more all round player as a result. I wouldn't be upset him staying there, but am intrigued as to how he can use his new found defensive side to a game in the middle of the park. What a conundrum to have
I like this one. Not growing up in Barnsley I agree, but I will say that the Chris Morgan incident really coloured my opinion of Sheffield United as a club, and to some extent it's difficult for that not to filter down to the fans.
Daniel Stendel was ok but did no more than what he should have been able to do with the players available.
David Watson is the most over rated goalkeeper in all my years of watching Barnsley., even more so than Clive Baker (who is number two on the list).
Mel Machin was one of the best managers we've had in my lifetime. John Hendrie wasn't crap, he was just incredibly unlucky. The gap between the East and North Stands is an eyesore.
Bobby hassel is the most overrated player in my 40+years of watching the might of the red army. Well, you did ask
He did a god job with Jeonbuk Motors the last two seasons as they won the title both times. His contract wasn’t renewed this season though. They are the Manchester City of the Korean league, and they did play very good football when I watched them.
While I knew I could rely on you to pop up with that one about Dave Watson, I had no idea that you didn't rate Baker either! I'm actually shocked! Thank the lord you're not our goalkeeping scout is all I can say, otherwise we'd be saddled with a squad of Ian Wardles.
Lol, I knew that would rattle your cage Helen. He did a good job but he had half the reds fans wetting themselves as soon as he first pitched up at a local boozer.
Agreed. I was in the "keep it for as long as possible" camp for ages. But now my main reason for sitting in it from time to time is how good the rest of the ground looks from it! While it will be sad to see it go, it's so outdated it's ridiculous. The concourse behind it is ridiculously cramped, and state of the women's toilets is also a factor as my wife sometimes comes with me and my daughter is starting to show an interest.
The season prior to his appointment they won the title by 21 points. His first season they won it on Goal Difference. His second season they won it by 3 points. The end result is the same, but hardly a rousing success.
