Nice comments and as others have said they were better than many weve played recently and I can see them doing well in the future..main difference for me is we were clinical and they weren't...but liked em.

    This one made me laugh...

If that was a lesson on how to win in the championship I'd rather not. We were abject, worse than useless by sinking to their level, but if that is what it takes to be successful then count me out. I honestly think that is some of the ugliest, most base football I've ever witnessed. Isn't this supposed to be the beautiful game? Isn't there some elan or pattern to be gleaned in this thing we give so much of our time and passion to? There was no joy or entertainment in that lowest common denominator trash fest.

Let's be honest. If Ismael were managing one of our local rivals and playing this style of football we'd all be running it down big time and in horror at the thought of a Barnsley team playing like it.

If we didn't play patches of ball on the floor then yes. I think it's the energy that adds to it and the fact we are attacking. A lot of hoofball I've seen from other teams seems to be more defensive, and just looking for the odd opportunity to launch it forward.

I'm not saying it's all bad. We can play some nice stuff at times but there's a lot that's not pretty and some that is downright agricultural. I'm happy enough that it's working and allowing us to compete beyond our means. I still look at the table every couple of hours and find myself drifting off into contemplation of going up.
The fact remains though that it's not a type of football I want to watch long term and I'm pretty certain it will only be tolerated as long as it's successful.

boooooooooooooooooooooo, what style, there's more than one way to skin a cat ,wish people would get over themselves, watch the last match day recap filmed from side of pitch, the physicality and skill involved in some of the forward work was a beauty to behold

I think, in the main, you're right Churton.

I can't believe how effective it is and how the opposition haven't managed to work out how to break us down. Val has them so well drilled and organised.

It's wonderful to see the progress we've made in the table and I'm overjoyed. My issue is I just can't get my head around the way we're playing. After watching for so many years it's a proper culture shock to see our team play such agricultural (YT's description) football.....and yet we're winning with it!

RR put it out there with his entertainment / results debate. I want both. Its bizarre because, perversely, I think I'm actually finding it entertaining in a "We are Barnsley and we don't care" way.

    I need help.
