Just received an email saying DPD tried to deliver a parcel yesterday and now I must pay £4.98 for it to be re-delivered. Is this a scam?
I got similar the other day. Fortunately I was not waiting on any deliveries so knew it was a scam. Had I been expecting a delivery of anything I might have been sucked in. Be careful
Yes it is. I had the same and so did my elderly parents. Unfortunately for me the day before my parents got the emailI I called to say I had sent a parcel to them so they thought this was the parcel and that it had not been delivered and they had to pay. Thankfully I spoke to them the same day and said that it was scam, but it just goes to show that sometimes a fishing trip will be productive. Something needs to be done about scam emails and also scam text and calls. I am fed up of receiving calls about car accidents, life insurance and HMRC saying that I am being taken to court for unpaid tax bill: especially as my accountant said that I would never get caught
Worst delivery company to deal with purely because of how common this scam is. Scrolling through my emails when I was expecting a delivery, having something collected, dealing w feedback on previous delivery and being careful not to fall for this scam was quite stressful.
On a similar note, the Mrs has been waiting for a missing RM parcel for weeks, and yesterday got an email from RM to pay for an underpaid item. It was nearly good enough to suck her in. How old folk are supposed to protect themselves from this kind of thing is beyond me.
The best way to determine if it’s a scam is to go to the DPD website (manually, don’t click any links from the email) and put in the tracking number from the email. If it’s legitimate it’ll show the delivery and let you sort it out from there.
My basic rule is: Never click on a link in an email. Ever. Always go straight to the official website and log in that way/look for their contact details on there.
If you hover over a link with the mouse it tells you where its going to send you, usually somewhere in Brazil or Romania.
