back to teh topic. Keith Hill was a sound bloke. I loved his Lancastrian twang when talking about how we had played
I'd rather lose Mowatt than Palmer. Mowatt's lack of pace means he's currently playing at the best level he'll ever get consistent games. Palmer is an inexperienced kid holding his own in a top half championship side. The sky's the limit for him.
Players are human beings. It's ok for them to leave the club and follow their star, even if it entails signing for a local rival. Good luck to each and every one of them.
Ok I’ll ask it a different way. If you could click your fingers right now and replace Ismael with Morais would you do it?
Fair enough. I can see how you'd not enjoythe style of play this season... I for one am loving every minute of it though!
Keith Hill was a really good manager for us. Nobody could have rolled with the that January window where we lost Butterfield, Vaz te, Drinkwater and O'Brien.
Winnall to Wednesday got the fans so angry that it can't class as good business, in my opinion. And we got such a low fee for him that we didn't really see any benefit from it! Said it all that the CEO at the time was removed just after. Can't remember his name now
I thought Morais was one of the most bizarre coaches and he was a chancer living off others reputations and I wouldn't want him back in a month of Sundays. Having said that, of all the coaches and managers that I've seen (starting at Clarke mk2, though there was a hiatus between Hendrie and Robins), I don't think I've witnesses a less attractive form of alleged football.
I'm genuinely delighted so many are. I really mean that. A handful hating it means nothing in the wider sphere.
I totally disagree. This is the most entertained I’ve been watching the reds in a long, long time. I can’t remember the last time I looked forward to matches as much as I do at the minute. Attractive football is good for the neutral but I’m taking winning football every day for Barnsley. Although having said that I think last nights game was a great one for neutrals as well.
Back on topic as this is a great thread. I actually don't think we have a top Championship ready goalkeeper at the club right now and it's our weakest position in the Starting XI.
I enjoyed the football in the 18/19 season more, but in part that may well be because I was actually thete, watching it unfold on the pitch.
I'm genuinely delighted you're enjoying it. And everyone else. The thing is, so much of what people enjoy is subjective. It's their personal taste. Winning is better than losing, but I've always enjoyed how we win and how we play. I've seen us play plenty of games where we've lost and still enjoyed the game, or been able to appreciate the opposition or pieces of quality. Last night there were moments of quality. The corner to stick the ball on Dike's head without him having to move. Mowatts exquisite free kick, and the way Morris finished with so much to do on receiving the ball. I also thought QPR contributed to elevating the game above some of the absolute dross of recent games I've seen (I don't see all, just anything on the red button generally) and moved it around quite nicely and more clear chances than we've afforded teams of late. But in between that, my heart just sinks when the ball is hoofed into touch or the goalkeeper, sometimes bookended with 30 seconds of Collins' timewasting, launches it to the opposite keeper. Or a player in space with time just hoofs it to an area where there isn't anybody. That's just joyless to me. I can understand if under pressure, or if exposed and we have to do it, but its for large parts of 90 minutes and it takes agricultural to another level. But thats just me, I accept and admire that others are enjoying it, I'm just one of the few that isn't, and thats just the way it is.
There's two things we agree on. It's all subjective and Collins time wasting is infuriating. I know he's probably giving everyone time to get into position and get a breath, but it's starting to take the p***
