Birmingham's form of late appears to be improving of late, although they've been very inconsistent. They've won 4, drawn 3 and lost 3 of their last 10 league games away from home. Overall they've won 2, drawn 3 and lost 5 in the last 10 in the league. They find themselves 3 points above the drop zone, having played 2 more than Rotherham. Our home record against Birmingham is much worse than I thought it was. Its certainly much worse than our record at St Andrews over recent seasons. Since the turn of the century, we've won 2, drawn 2 and lost 6 at Oakwell vs Birmingham. And 9 defeats in our last 15 visits vs them at home. Our form is the best it has ever been at this level though, and considering the general direction the two teams are going in, I can't see past a home win. Birmingham do have a lot of fight in them though, they seem to come from behind to win points fairly regularly. So I think we need to take our chances early in order to see the game off. I'm going 2-0 with Woodrow and Morris on the scoresheet.
Brum are definitely one of our bogey teams but I think we'll have too much for them and will win 2-1 as usual.
Feeling good about this one (hope that’s not complacency, but if it is it’s the player’s fault for being so dam good) 3-0 or 3-1
I still have nightmares about the Steve Claridge game. Revenge shall be sweet to the tune of 3–1. Dike, Styles and Helik. Obvs Roberts for them.
Sky Sports pundit David Prutton tipping us to carry on our winning streak. That's good enough for me. When I first started supporting the Reds in the late seventies I attended Oakwell optimistic in seeing us win. That feeling is starting to grow with this team. https://footballleagueworld.co.uk/s...iction-ahead-of-birminghams-trip-to-barnsley/
Logic suggests that the run has to end some time and probably when we don't expect it. But I just can't see past a comprehensive win in this one. My only fears are 1. Our reputation will be writ large by now for any team we play and given their limitations, they will have to turn it into a war of attrition to get anything from the game. If we don't score early, it might get ugly. 2. I fear our potato field of a pitch is starting to hamper home performances. Still, I am going for anything 3-0 and up. Score early and we win comfortably. They won't have the response. There, I have done it now.
