Why not build a new stadium on the training pitches and then put the training pitches where the stadium is? It would still be Oakwell, just moved a bit. We'd obviously need to train elsewhere for a period, but it's a possibility.
I'm six foot four. I can barely even sit down in the West Stand seats. It's a total mess. Rip it down and, by all means, replace it with something that has a design similarity with the old version but, for god's sake, replace it!
Even with the uncertainty regarding the ground the relevant parties could sit round a table and discuss a new West Stand. I reckon if the ownership issue had been sorted we'd have one by now. It's three years since they took over.
To be honest I agree with you, but if a new stadium was the best all round solution then that would be the way to do it.
Ripping it down could be quite costly due to the age of the old stand perhaps its riddled with asbestos and I'm no expert but don't think that comes cheap removing it with the airborne fibres etc etc.
The lands now gone there, a train platform could also have been built. Rebuild the West and the stadium will look completely different, it will look lovely again - like when l paid for the missus going for her eye lashes and lips done...
If we stay in the champ we should give away fans the west stand and give home fans the ‘away end’ . Swap them over for nutjobs like Millwall.
You’re all crackers. The West Stand is the only one that can feasibly be returned to a Standing Area when that option is available again to all Clubs. We should be planning for that.
Red shirt against red seats? No ones thinking that’s a good idea. Simple graphical shapes, when the old seats have gone, they’ll need a new iconic idea.
Yeah - prepare for that by putting a new stand in that could accommodate safe standing and not be an embarrassment or a drain on finances just to keep it as it is
I'm guessing it's because the WSL was designed as a terrace to begin with, whereas our other 3 stands were designed strictly for seating - with standing probably never considered in the design/construction process
It wasn't though. The original west stand lower tier was but what is there now isn't the original stand. It was ripped out at quite a big expense and in a lengthy process 20 odd years ago and rebuilt as a seated area. A lot of people are under the impression that we simply bolted seats onto the terrace like a lot of other clubs did but that's not true, we actually completely removed the terrace and built a new one which is why the viewing angles are good in the lower tier and you get a normal leg room.
