Anyone had any dealings with NS&I? I'm currently acting on behalf of a 101 year old relative who needs access to her savings. Talk about obstructive. Six weeks and counting, just to process the Power of Attorney (which they returned to me 3 weeks ago). Basically getting fobbed off by their help desk with "You'll have to wait". Imagine being 101 years old and being told you have to wait for your life savings..... Anyway, what are my options? Financial Ombudsman?
Does your MP have an online surgery? I had issues with a government department and it got resolved going via my MP.
My 80 year old Dad had issues getting his money out only a couple of months ago. He'd lost his account number, so he was going through the security checks and somehow they'd randomly changed his address (it used to be correct) on his account and so they wouldnt talk to him, so he had to ring Equifax to change it (and they're a shower of sh@te too!). They were very obstructive about other things too and eventually they offered an apology. The person on the phone said it was a nightmare with Covid.
Sounds like one of those things where due to a small minority of fraudsters being active we have to jump through a tonne of hoops to minimise the risk, sadly.
I think it’s because that small minority is having a massive impact. I’m ok though, an African Prince is going to send me £10 million! I just have to send £10,000 to release the funds!
Yes, I have no problem with the security side of it, but that was all sent 6 weeks ago. By comparison, The Halifax, Lloyds and Yorkshire Building Society resolved these issues within 2-14 days. The attitude of both the help desk on Twitter, and the customer services is, "we can't help, you have got to wait". It's just appalling. Anyway, a complaint has gone in, with 2 more in the pipeline. Daft thing is they are spending time telling people how to complain, rather than addressing the paperwork.
