Forgive me if this is something obvious but i'm of a younger persuasion and my first memories of Warnock are him managing Sheff United in 2003-ish.

He seems to be disliked by a lot, is there a reason why?

To me he seems to talk straight, no nonsense, is a bit of a character, is a living bit of history for us having been a player for us back in the day and has had a long career in football and a good career in management worthy of respect..

Is it all just banter or is there a genuine reason that pre-dates me why I see people saying they can't stand him?

Is it cos he's a blunt?

he gets himself really wound up and snarly through matches, like you say managed the blunts.
Comes across as pretty normal on none match days and always speaks well of us and his time with us. Tbh I’ve no real problem with him.

He’s often classed as the most hated man in Football.

Have a look at Sheffield Uniteds home game against West Brom (The Battle of Bramhall Lane) then see what you think.

Ive stories from my old man from when they were opposing Dug Outs which would make anyone see the mans a twát.

Was a good player for us back in the day , always put a shift in .
Think the dislikes from his ranting at other managers , players referees etc .
Always speaks well of our club and his time here .

No problem with him. Wanted him for us on several occasions when we’d sack a manager and in the mire. Good track record so must have summat about him.
He generally gets the job done.
    His record is astonishing.

What about instructing his team to break someone's fücking legs, or words to that effect? When he was at Notts County, I think.

It's the first part of an anagram of his name. I'll let you work out the second!

Not a fan I'll be honest. The constant abuse of officials, opposing staff and players etc is at times pathetic for a grown man. His choice of assistant, Kevin Blackwell, says everything about him. When asked for his opinion on the Ian Hulme incident when Blackwell was in charge of the Blunts, he jokingly mocked that he thought Hulme had run on to Morgan's elbow. Hulme had to have brain surgery and the challenge could have ended his career. I think he was in charge of Palace at the time.

I have some respect for Colin, he has a decent record in management down the years. But, he isn't half an old whinge-bag. Even when he's right (certainly right about the Swansea game), he still comes over as maungy to me.

It's perfectly straightforward. Fans of teams he's managed like him due to his track record, whereas fans of those he hasn't don't like him due to his manner.

In other words, the man's a complete shithouse. Which is fine as long as he's your complete shithouse.

He was always a hothead. I remember him getting sent off after about 1 minute when coming on as sub for us against Hudds, although I think he had seen the player taking out one of ours in his defence. His teams have always played rubbish football, just think of the dire Cardiff games of recent seasons. He is a Sheff U and Brexit supporter - there's two additional reasons.

I dislike him for two reasons really. Firstly, for the way he has conducted himself in the dugout and in post match interviews over the years.

Secondly, because I have it on very good authority that when one of his players was arrested on suspicion of rape a number of years ago, he went wading into the police station demanding said player be released. I don't know if this is public knowledge about said player being locked up.

Thats actually one of the stories, which I think I have talked about on here before.

He was manager of Notts County at the time and we were playing them away. I think it was this game https://www.11v11.com/matches/notts-county-v-barnsley-05-september-1992-173702/.

Anyway we were comfortably winning and a referees decision went against them and he jumped out of the dug out and shouted at one of his players to 'Break his fūcking leg'. My old man had to be restrained from decking him. If any of you remember the Liverpool Premier League and my old man stalking Willard down the touchline, when he got the red mist he could be a hard man to stop.

    Warnock was lucky that day.
