The voice of Formula one and a absolute legend. His enthusiasm was boundless and contagious in equal measure. RIP
RIP Murray. I remember a quote about him in a magazine article that was discussing the importance of his commentary on F1 races and how it made it more exciting. It was something like this - 'Its Murray Walkers ability to lose his head when all around him are keeping theirs!'
97! Taken from us far to soon... a genuinely great commentator. One of those who could make two flies walking down a wall sound exciting. RIP
"And there goes Walker"- Indeed!! But you have to do it with the voice!! The voice of motorsport and F1 for years but I particularly enjoyed the period when he was co-commentating F1 with James Hunt. Both knew the sport inside out and STILL managed to be at loggerheads with each other at times. It was a great time to be a fan of F1 when those two were around. His biography is a good read especially his re early days in advertising.
They were a fantastic duo, never getting too technical or complicated with their comments. Maybe this proves the point......
don't think i've really bothered with f1 since he quit, he was the voice always remember his comm when mansell "blew" it, think it was the aussie circuit last race, amazing commentary by him
