I listened to the Luke Steele Undr The Cosh (Jon Parkin) pod cast recently where LS said he always wanted to play up front and was bagging loads of goals for a Sunday team now .... I reckon Brad gets a bit bored on his own and will be a nightmare in training ground 5 a-sides. Bet its like Bobby volunteering to go in goal when keeper gets sent off but in reverse.
Take a look at this list, top goal scoring goalkeeper with 131 goals! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_goalscoring_goalkeepers
We and he were/was lucky yesterday. On another day he may have cost us a couple of goals. His judgement was not very good on occasions yesterday. The worst one was the incident where he completely missed his fly hack. He needs to keep his eye on the ball. That said, over the last couple of months he has done a great job as our last line of defence.
It’s an accident waiting to happen. when he gets sent off for clattering a striker 30 yards out of goal or he gets the ball stuck under his feet and the striker robs him to score I hope the nobheäds don’t go town on him. I love the way he’s been told to play and long may it continue
Definitely, it will happen sooner or later but we will have to put up with that because he’s so fundamental to how we play.
It’s bound to happen. I just hope when it does we’re already 3-0 up. But I really hope it doesn’t happen against that club on Saturday.
Heart in mouth moments, loved it when Brad decided to play fullback and made the tackle to put the ball out for a throw. He did miss judge a couple yesterday just like William's miss judges that interception and Palmer that poor clearence which did both lead to goals against But what has been mentioned earlier he is a vital part in the way we are set up. At some point it may cost us a goal but the way he covers the ball over the top has contributed to so many wins this Season.
He’ll cost us a goal before the end of the season, almost certainly, but his skill and bravery will save us many more. He clearly has the Keeper’s Manual on his book shelf at home: “You don’t have to be mad to be a goalkeeper - but it helps!”.
Tommy Thorpe on there with 1 for Barnsley. His wiki page says 'He holds the record for being Barnsley's oldest player at 40 years 310 days' but Mike Pollitt was older than that so it could do with an edit.
Just checked JD and it says Mike Pollitt is the oldest player, and the page hasn't been edited since 27th Feb 2021, so not sure what's happening there
Remember when Simon Davey played Campbell-Ryce as as sweeper? Reminds me a bit of that, except Collins is further forward.
Yesterday could have been an absolute nightmare for him, he's had his fair share of luck so maybe VI should give Jack a game against Wycombe.....
Val's told him to do it, part of the high line press and trying to keep our 10 outfield players in their half of the pitch. True sweeper keeper style
