To block the shot under the wall when it jumps, like Kane nearly scored with a few weeks ago

Why stand on your own player?

So this is what the defender on the floor is trying to prevent

Why don't the attacking team just have players in line with the guy on the floor and pass it into the penalty area? The time it takes him to get to his feet takes him out of the game. Also if the ball is played quickly there's a chance of him tripping up his own wall as they scramble back.

I've thought about this, why not put 3 in wall and 3 on the line. The keeper then just has to cover half the goal. The taker then either knocks the ball wide or tries to create a chance for someone else. Once the ball is played however the 3 on the line are there immediately to block and other 7 players can sprint to mark up and close down angles.
Most free kicks result in goal kicks, corners or a cleared ball. In our case another chance to press like maniacs.

Because they’d be playing everyone onside and you can’t hold a defensive line. You’d allow attackers to be stationed everywhere including, if they had any sense, standing right in front of the goalkeeper and jumping up and down to stop him seeing the ball.

I think against teams like City and Barca you'd be screwed but at our level I honestly think if you did that every now and then they'd confuse the life out of em. How many teams could effectively work that position and not snatch at the first chance to shoot?
