I don't think there's intent with those dangerous tackles 75% of the time. But intent doesn't come in to it sadly. It was reckless and gave the referee a decision to make unfortunately. It's 50/50 whether he got the ball or the player as we're only blessed with one angle, unlike when there's VAR, so I think they'll back the referee who had a better view than us.
The more I see it and having a couple of days to watch it again. I still think it was a red. I agree with your view 100 per cent.
I believe there is another option that the "Jury" may decide a red card to be sufficient punishment and overturn the ban only so the red card stays on his record. In that way yhey're still backing the referee's decision. I'm sure this has happened before.
No. Red for a Second Yellow is one match. I think (and I may be wrong) three matches is for a "violent cnduct" type Red only.
Reminds me a bit of the Adam Hammill sending off at Wendy’s. Hammil used to plant both feet as a way to ride an incoming challenge, and the opposing player would normally kick the ball against Hamills legs and he’d keep possession. It was a trick that he did quite a bit. A block to keep possession. I see Mowatts as a similar thing. He didn’t come flying in from yards away and wasn’t airborne with studs flying. The ball was there to be won and he took it. All about the opposing players for me. The rolling about and screaming did for Mowatt, who’s not a dirty player.
No harm in appealing IMO. None of the examples I put on which the appeal failed for were given extra punishment, no reason for Mowatts to warrant that either.
Will we find out about the success or not of the appeal today, then? Surely if not he can laik tomorrow?
I honestly can't decide if you're being sarcastic or serious. If footballers are in such precise control of their bodies, how do you account for the multitude of badly hit shots, passes, and clearances that occur in every game? Add in all the tackles, saves, free kicks, throw-ins, etc. that go wrong, and I'd say that footballers are rarely in absolute control of their own movements. Everybody and their grandmother knows that two-footed tackles are frowned upon. For good reason. It's so easy to cause an injury, tackling like that. For me, it doesn't matter if there was intent or not, it doesn't matter if there was contact or not. Once you leave the ground you lose control of the situation and have no idea what's going to happen. It's dangerous. It's dangerous because you're tackling a moving ball and a moving opponent with both feet. You could do everything right and still cripple someone. And frankly, any professional footballer who can't tackle properly, without using both feet, still has a lot to learn. Mowatt is club captain, and a vital component of our success this season. He doesn't need to tackle like that and risk a red card. Not when the referee has already proven to be suspect with the penalty decision. And certainly not at a point in the game where we're cruising to victory. My instant reaction was the same as @Stephen Dawson's. "Idiot!" I haven't seen anything since to change my mind.
It’s arrived by pigeon post , but all they can get out of the pigeon up to now is Coo Coo . they’re still talking to it but it looks as if it’ll take some time
