...and it's obviously disappointing to lose today. The thing to ask yourselves though, is who's season would you rather have? Would you rather have won today, but still be 6 points adrift of safety, after a season where you went through managers like underwear and have the constant threat of financial doom on the horizon and have a squad of players that are out of contract at the end of the season? Or have lost today, but still have a well-run club that is in the Playoff spots(with a points buffer), managed by someone genuinely inspiring, but happen to have had an off day against your local rivals, who will more than likely be relegated anyway? Look at it this way. In previous seasons, we'd be the ones fighting for our lives AND losing to our rivals!
I know, it's a kick in the balls. But just think of the end of the season when the are confirmed as relegated!
Beating Bournemouth in a real 6 pointer last week was the massive result for me, I'll take a crap day today for that one. Let the lads have a well deserved breather and then go for it again.
We can’t win every game, even Man City can’t. Neither can Wednesday lose every game so perfect storm today, it was coming. The lads have done us proud and need a rest, then they need to come out fighting.
Remember this is on the back of 2 games a week for the last 8 weeks or so and on the back of two long travel journeys to Bournemouth & Wycombe. The players looked tired today, physically and mentally. I thought a draw would have been a fairer result on the balance of the game, but law of averages state we were due a loss and if I’m honest after Bournemouth,I expected that loss against Wycombe and today being a draw that we usually get against Wednesday.
