Doesn't make much sense at all. Surely at worst they get let off owing us the money, minus any money they made from his transfer to Hull?
Our owners aren’t shy when it comes to litigation, so I can’t see them accepting this without a scrap. This is just another example of a club trying to exploit a personal tragedy to get out of paying a football debt. No better than Cardiff with that poor sod who died in the plane crash.
Very odd decision considering the finances.. imagine it's something to do with AM's wages + discount on transfer fee + legal and medical costs. The person I feel bad for here is Angus. He's a good player, a good lad, and he's got clubs squabbling over who has to pay for him because he's deemed to be 'faulty goods.' I know a million is nothing to turn a blind eye to, and we have to respect the club fighting against having to pay that money given our financial stability is key (and given that Hull presumably profited on his sale or at the very least made back the cost), but it's just sad that it's come to this.
Just a reminder that the same arbitration panel including the same Edwin Glasgow made the absolutely corrupt decision to reduce cellinos ban from 18 months to 12 months despite finding that he had deliberately set out to hide information. They accepted he was guilty of all charges but thought 18 months was unfair for using an unlicenced agent, hiding it and hiding payments to him, so reduced it by a third. Not fit for purpose and a disgrace to the game that they continue to be used.
It's a bizarre ruling on the face of things. I still find it very odd that we chose to do business with them on Malik Wilks while this was floating around unresolved in the background and, at the time, they still had an outstanding liability to us. At the very least you'd expect the outstanding unresolved issues to have been dealt with as part of agreeing that deal. Terrible outcome overall, given that we're effectively paying the buying club for an outgoing transfer, which is no reflection at all on the player himself who's had more than enough to deal with in that time.
Whatever happened to buyer beware? If Dull had an argument with anybody it was surely their own medical team.
I seem to remember Gus after signing for Dull that he was unaware of his condition and it clouded his absense from his latter stages for us and not playing. A 'mystery illness' ...... but I can also recall Heckys comments.
Can't wait til they discover he's looking at a 3 stretch inside ........... Chein will be asking his Mam for a loan
I'm awaiting the Barnsley FC [Official Statement] from Newsbot. No doubt we've got the lawyers lined up, Americans love litigation.
There was quite a lot of speculation about him as he'd hardly featured having had a really good season the year before. I've got to say, this all seems a very bizarre situation. I too remember Heckingbottom saying he'd got some illness and then MacDonald refuting it after his move. And as others have said... just what is a medical for now? And if something had been suppressed, surely the player should play some part in that too for not mentioning it? Odd beyond words and if we have to swallow that fine, thats going to have to be found somewhere else (unless we went up then its small change anyway).
This is completely bizarre. So they basically got him for free and we presumably pay for some of his wages while he was off sick having treatment, despite Heckingbottom talking about it in the press, them carrying out a medical and Angus himself talking about it (denying it) when he got there. But we’re responsible? Who was that forward we signed from Birmingham who had a drugs problem and we were told we should have picked it up?
Need to see the full explanation, rather than a few sound bites, But on the face of it as it stands. a bizarre outcome
So they find in favour of Hull, but go to the trouble to make clear no one had acted dishonestly. How does that work? Surely we are only culpable if we had acted dishonestly. edit Presumably Torquay forfeit their sell in fee to or can they sue us for not getting one?
Clubs have rejected players for failing medicals . Surely it’s their medical team at fault or at least more so than us . I’m with the club on this one and would back them if they decide to take it further and into civilian law courts and take all the precedents of other transfers into the reckoning . I think this closed shop kangaroo justice has gone too far It’s the remnants of the old regime backed up by the Blatters and platinis of yesteryear . Unless there’s something more sinister with the details we have been told then theres nothing to stop this diabolical old farts brigade decision to be laughed out of court imo.
