If you haven’t noticed that your civil rights have been affected the last 12 months then there is no hope for you
Hugo boss were forced to apologise as they faced a class action in the nineties from people who had been used as slave labour by him. All I'm saying is I find it strange that people want to erase some British historical figures at times for some very slender reasons but it's apparently ok to glorify the name of a Nazi slave trader. The company should just rebrand itself as something else. They won't because the name hasn't become toxic when really it should be
If people are intent on damaging buildings and inflicting broken arms and broken ribs on police officers, setting police vehicles on fire and damaging a police station then said perpetrators should be dealt with, no problem to break some sculls in this this instance, minds have to be concentrated or you just end up with anarchy - as an aside, fully agree that this particular bill needs scrutiny but going about it in this way is totally wrong.
So Churchill is immune from criticism because Anthony Joshua wears Hugo Boss? Reyt. And I wouldn't describe the Bengal Famine as "slender reasons". For the record I think Churchill was a racist and Hugo Boss should change its name.
There's a big difference between a peaceful protest and wantless violence and vandalism leaving dozens of police injured.
A very good friend of mine qualifed as a copper about 8-9 years ago. From Barnsley but stationed in Rotherham. He did a year then jacked it in as he couldn't do what he asked to do. I think we can all guess...... some I guess 'tow the line'. Others don't.
I agree but there are laws already in place to deal with violent behaviour and vandalism, the current proposed Bill will criminalise peaceful protest on the whim of a Police Officer deciding it’s a bit annoying . I’ve been on enough Demo’s and picket lines to realise what can start out as a peaceful March / demonstration can quickly turn nasty by the actions of the Police and agitators who are not always on the side of the demonstrators . Kettling a group of people into a small area is playing into the hands of anyone wanting to escalate a peaceful situation into something different , which is what happened in Bristol . Conspiracy theorists might say it’s convenient for the Government to have a violent protest on the eve of a vote to limit protests
Here's at list of statues and memorials that were vandalised at the time....as you will see it's a very short list that actually got damaged (4). Just another case of the right wing press whipping up a frenzy to suit their own agenda . https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Act...reat_Britain_during_the_George_Floyd_protests
For one I take no notice of people either right or left wing. I'm neither and I've got a reasonable mind of my own. One or a million and one damaged statues is too much. It's a show of support. As is folk standing outside their house at 8pm every week as a show of support for the NHS workers. And yes I did that as its a show of support.....
And they want to have the power to enforce the law to a protest of one meaning if it came down to it in court it'd be one person's word against the police. One person with a placard and a megaphone, criminalised for being an 'annoyance'. How vague. I've little sympathy for the police as an institution when they are willing to sign on the dotted line and are completely complicit in this subjugation of the country. Our rights have never been so important yet they're being abolished one by one.
Wow....what a sad reflection of some people's views....rioting is the way to get laws changed....my daughter has mental health issues so I'll ignore the advice and carry on as normal no regard to the rest of the population...the police were heavy handed 35 years ago so what does it matter if they're subject to violence...they're trained!! I do worry going forward with some of these outrageous views that will no doubt be passed down. It seems to me to there are a section of our population who would be more suited to living in a banana republic where they can protest , moan, complain to their hearts content, rather than living in the most democratic country on earth. If that riot had happened in any other country the scum (organised extremists) that perpetrated it would have minimum been water cannoned or shot. We're in a GLOBAL PANDEMIC....TIMES ARE HARD STOP FEELING SORRY FOR YOURSELF AND GET ON WITH IT.
I find it amazing people can try to justify violent and criminal behaviour in the name of protest but equally some want to chastise a poster cos he chose to stand next to a statue in his free time.
I sympathise pal ...we ve all got issues in our families but if everyone had you're attitude we'd be in a right state. Fortunately I'll class you as one of the minority that is catered for in the stats. I've not seen my dad for 13 months or my son for 3 months...not a good position but times are hard...they ll get better
Where have you been , we live in a Banana Republic, flouting international law , ministers breaking the law with impunity , giving billions of pounds to their mates and the country voted a racist misogynistic man child as their Prime Minister .
Like I say... you're obviously not happy with your lot. It's obviously eating away at you. Maybe look to move when this horrendous government lifts the restrictions and you ll be free
Civil rights haven't been affected though. You've been asked to do what is right for the greater good. The greater good is the whole point of any civilised system of government. Civil rights is NOT a charter to say I'm alright Jack, f**k everyone else. What you seem to really want is anarchy.
I'm fully awake pal and happy with life....who mentioned Europe?? Or is that another obsession of yours
