My Council tax bill for the forthcoming year. A rise of 3.5%. How about I just pay them a one per cent increase and stand on the step and clap for the rest of it?
The same PCC who wasted council taxpayers' money on wrongly pursuing the former Chief Constable. And there may be more to pay out for once PC Sampson's case is eventually heard.
Mine is £2,147 as a Band E. Think ours went up similar to yours 3.4%. We don’t get any council support for Roads/Verges either. It’s all on village land so we have to contribute to the upkeep of the road and keeping the grass cut. So we are basically paying £180 a month for a bin collection.
A couple of years ago (after some swingeing cuts from central government budgets), the London Councils split out social care contributions from council tax to be exempt from the 5% cap. So the main council tax has been 5% every year, with then additional increases for GLA, Fire and now social care. Garden waste is now a paid annual service and large collections which used to be free are now charged per collection. At the same time recycling is collected every other week, with general rubbish collected on a two week rota as well. We also had a CPZ enacted which costs money every year to park cars outside (not rescinded during a pandemic) If you tot up the cuts as well as the increases, we're getting a heck of a lot loss for paying a heck of a lot more.
I worked in Waste Management up until about 18 months ago - about 79p of your Council Tax came our way.
Extravagance, we used to dream of living in band D. Ours is about £1250, band A. South Derbyshire which is Labour controlled.
Band A? Luxury. We live in a old septic tank in the middle of a rubbish dump and are woke up each morning by a bucket of rotting fish being tipped over our heads. We dream of living in Band A.
