    Morning all. I could check this out online but I'd like get others involved. Probably jlwbiglil will answer easily (or it might have been a dream). Late 70s prob around 78. Myself and mate Neil used to go to some away games with his dad wilf in his new beetle, which was 'R' reg. We went to stockport on a Friday night. Can't remember score, but think possibly won. I'm sure I recall Mike Sumerbee played for stockport. Mick McCarthy had him in his pocket most of the night, until sumerbee lost his rag and assaulted Mick in view of the ref, who sent him off. Must have been serious because you could get away with manslaughter then.
    Called on way back for a couple of pints in Silkstone then back to coach and horses Ardsley.

    If it was 78-79 promotion season it was 0-0 draw. Definitely played on a Friday night that game, remember going with a mate and his dad.

    I remember being at that. On a flat terrace at the side of a stand, can’t remember anything about the game but could hardly see a thing.

    My County mate says that 78/79 was the season that Summerbee was player manager there.

    I was there, if it was the 78/79 season. Allan Clarke had become player manager and enthused fans and ex-fans so much that we took 5000 to that match for a 4th Division away game on a Friday night. I think the total attendance was around 9000.

    Last time I went was on a boxing day in the early 2000s.

    Think we won 4-0. Carlton Palmer was their player manager and scored an own goal

    Only been to Stockport once, Boxing Day 1998 it was fecking freezing. Late to game due to stupid queues down Motor way for Trafford centre

    The only Stockport game I can recall is the 2004/05 season at home, 3-0 up with 20 minutes remaining & they clawed it back 3-3 it finished, and they finished that season bottom.

    Indeed. The following season, after we'd won promotion, Clarke pulled off his masterstroke, by persuading an initially reluctant Ronnie Glavin to leave Celtic and grace the Oakwell turf.

    correct mate. Then the following month, we were 3-0 up at home to Huddersfield, they pulled it back to 3-2 after Ross Turnbull was sent off. Thankfully we scored a late penalty to win 4-2 :)

    It was definitely the 78/79 season at Edgely Park; I can remember it clearly. Summerbee kicked Macca's legs from under him after getting nowhere nowhere in another challenge.

    Knew I wasn't dreaming it. That must have been the most notable thing in a 0-0. Atmosphere would have been good aswell. 5000 reds fans in 9000 crowd would have been unusual for us then. The last home game v grimsby to win promotion was the largest crowd I'd ever been in up to then.

    Next game was another night match, at Aldershot.... we lost 1-0 to lose our unbeaten away record
