I have loved Don Henley's Last Worthless Evening for years, and that song is so much on a par with it.[/QUOTE
From a great album of which 'New York Minute' Is One of my favourites. Great opening basso line and very evocative sax break. One of my all time favourites Is Steven Tyler and Pink's 'Misery' the very essence of Blues.
'Alone' by Heart Is up there as well for me.. soaring vocal harmonies. Too many plastic wannabee Maria Carey warblers with identikit singing Styles around these days for my liking. And (showing my age) and whilst I understand it Is a valid art form and incredibly popular for a certain age group, I do not consider those who strut around the stage singley or in pairs, microphone held to mouth with one hand and waving the other around whilst talking in rhyming couplets 'musicians' or 'artistes' in the true sense. I Simply do not understand the adulation afforded to Stormzy Who,whilst he seems a good guy and role model seems to for the pattern that success has to be married to sending out messages in the lyrics. Same with films..many nominated films have social messages integral. Whatever happened to simple ,entertainment. Similarly, and I will no doubt incur the wrath of some on here, I do not consider people who spend an evening cross fading tempo matching samples of other peoples' work i.e. DJs,' musicians' in the true sense of the word. Nevertheless, they do command huge audiences and large fees for doing so. These are only personal prejudices though as someone who spent 10 years from Age 8 studying classical piano and spent years on and off playing bass, piano and keyboard in various bands. On the subject of DJs many I have met have no pretentions and enjoy what they do and people like what they do so no problem. One of my favourites pieces was the Bourne Trilogy closing credits music written and producer by Moby so there Is plenty of talent around in that genre. I have though, encountered one or two over the years totally up their own ar*e who believed their skill set Is comparable to those pro session musicians/composers which in 99% of cases Is deluded.

I don't know about the best duets, but these two are the most hideous. I feel sick just thinking about them.

What is it about Nick Cave he can’t sing a note but somehow when in duet with a lass he produces amazing songs This one and “Where the wild roses grow” with Kylie 2 great examples

I love Nick. Murder Ballads is in my top 10 of all time but you’re right he’s not got the best voice. Love that video with the backstory of him and Polly just kicking off their romance.

Wonder whether the OP meant songs where the male and females sing together in harmonies or are alternate verses allowed
for me there is something about the contrast that can work magic
a lot of good examples above in this thread.
It can even work well in songs where I dont like one or in some cases either of the singers (talking music not as a person)
like this one from Ollie Murs and Demi Levato where the finished result is something I like much more than anything either produced solo

or where not a duet at all but sampling someone else transforms a song like Dido on Eminems "Stan"

and for those of us who are a bit less young this classic doesnt age
