Don't give them ideas or they'll be disinterring Nelson and have him lying in state for a month surrounded by Union Jacks and, of course, with a shed load of vigilantes to "protect" him.
Can't see an issue with it in all honesty. Most countries fly their flag proudly all over the shop! All this hoo-har over the Union flag lol
If you're into your snap I can highly recommend the butcher in New Mill. En route to Holmfirth from Denby; where the dodge 3-way junction is, as you come to the bottom of the hill he's 30 degrees adjacent to the left. Go for the lamb steaks bud..... His "Barnsley Chops" were suss, but everything else on offer has been the mutts' nuts!
I like the Union flag, but if you fly it every day and have it plastered all over the place on everything and anything, I think it loses its impact and significance. I see an England flag in a blokes garden in the middle of a council estate near me and it's weather beaten, frayed tattered and torn and looks frankly crap. It's not telling you anything. It's probably some deep thinking within the Tory propaganda machine to associate the success of the vaccine with the flag and the Government.... And to piss the mint rocks off.
As discussed already in the thread, it's a jingoistic attempt to deflect from the real **** they are doing. But as I already have said, by kicking up a fuss about we're all doing exactly what they want. Just let them fly their flags if they want. If you don't like it, swear under your breath, but ignore it. If you do like it, smile proudly to yourself, but ignore it. Just don't let the ******** win. I mean, how often do people look at the town hall's mast? A quick glance to see the time every so often, maybe? It's so easy to ignore...
The only parallel I was making with protests and the flag is that when measures are introduced you soon get used to them. Anyway like you I’m not bothered whether the flag flies or not. Makes no difference to me or most people probably. But I think it will make a difference to the three lads I saw running through Kingston town centre the week after Johnson won the election. One had the Union flag draped across his shoulders and they were making monkey noises at anyone who looked foreign and chanting, “ BORIS BOYS WE ARE HERE!” I think flying the flag will a big difference to them. And any foreigners they come across.
I've been to Naples. At City Hall they fly three flags. The EU flag, the Italian flag and the flag of Naples.
I keep eyeing it up but ive stopped bringing money to work to stop me spending in such places. I will eventually crack though ue to lack of any kind of will power where snaps involved.
Again just because you don’t like it doesn’t make it wrong, why can’t the folk that take pleasure and pride in it ,enjoy it, their viewpoint is just as valid as others. Personally I couldn’t care less if it flies every day or not but tosome people it’s not all about left or right, I lived next to a navy guy who served on the convoys all through the Second World War and to him it meant freedom and he was very proud of it,
