I wouldn't necessarily want to go in the height of summer, though, as it was heaving enough late October!

I love Italy. Miss it very very much and can't bring myself to imagine when i might get back there.

Every region is so different. Distinctive. Sometimes parochial, but with style and charm. Each regional cuisine so distinctive.

I absolutely love Rome. If possible, everyone should try and visit there because there is so much splendour, but faded glory too. So many names you've heard, but can then see their legacies with your own eyes. History that defies time.

Then you have the most outrageous food in Emilia Romagna. Whether balsamic vinegar in Modena, or Parmesan and Parma Ham in Parma or lasagne, morel mushrooms (in season) and cottoletto in Bologna.

Then you can visit the style city of Milan with its reinvigorated Navigli region.

Or visit Turin and marvel at the mountainous backdrop while you wander down huge boulevards. Visit the Fiat factory which had the testing circuit on its roof. Munching on hazelnuts, tagliata, ferrero rocher and al brasato.

Or down in Palermo and Sicily. A decayed city with contrasting architecture. Watching locals eat their bodyweight in arancini from little holes in the wall.

Or Naples, drinking Aperol for a Euro from someones front living room.

And then you've Verona and you've Ferrara and you've got Florence.... and on and on it goes.

And you've volcanoes and churches, oh my goodness the churches. Art, statues, gold, wood carvings. So many churches and styles. And food markets with fresh vivid colours.

And you've wine and beer and limoncello and aperitivo time where you eat so much you wonder how you can fit in your dinner reservation. And then to top it all off you've gelato. Oh my god the gelato.

And when you think your senses just can't take anymore, you get a proud beaming smile from a local as you make an effort to speak their language ever so slightly, or take their recommendation on what to eat or where to go.

I love Italy. I miss Italy.

Tuscany and Umbria Titus. Both fantastic. We love Venice though, it's so easy to get away from the crowds and enjoy the quiter parts. :)

Been many times. Hard to say what or where I like best. Thing about Italy is its just about impossible to go wrong anywhere. No need for a guide book or looking up the best restaurants. Just get a map and wander about. Went to Rome and Monte Cassino just before Covid kicked off.

Don't we have a drink culture in Barnsley.?
And I've heard plenty of language
Seems to me that Italy and Barnsley are very similar :)

Had 4 nights in Venice, it was wonderful. The following year we went on a cruise starting and finishing in Rome and taking in Naples and la Spezia. From Naples we took the train to Pompeii and from la Spezia we went to Piza. Loved it all, I definitely want to go back when we can.

Nothing good ever comes out of a politics thread.

    Nothing.
    Ever.

I really don’t get why people argue on internet forums. They surely don’t feel better for it afterwards? Why afford it precious time? Live and let live.
