    I would hope not. Can't be signing players' mates just to keep them happy.

    I had a look on the Swindon forum and they seem to be willing to drive him up here themselves for £300k. It seems to be the type of signing we'd be lining up if we were in a relegation battle and looking at the potential of L1 next season rather than possible promotion. At 26 he doesn't seem to fit our model either, so if we did sign him it would be a bit weird on the face of it...

    Would be a peculiar signing, and the Mowatt link would be an even more peculiar reason. We could offer him and extra 3 or 4k a week instead!

    I felt like shouting it down when I saw him linked, but if I did that each time, but didn't when a link was legit, I'd be giving the game away.

    It's basically Nixon putting the player's name out there at the request of said player's agent. Some will see him linked to us and think "well, if Barnsley fancy him..." and it goes from there. And that isn't to say that everything Alan puts out is false, because it clearly isn't. He has a lot of contacts in the game, built over many years in football so he knows a hell of a lot that goes off at clubs. But he's not always playing a straight bat.
