Not if we're potentially looking to do a deal whereby we forego signing him in return for a wedge of cash...
Cheers for that. Surprised that Giddings didn't know we had tickets for next season already on sale. Love that Dane said we sold 5,000 by yesterday.
No bother. It is humorous how stupid I am. But in my defence I don't do Twitter so not clued up on all the little bits and pieces that make up a tweet. I just read it as something from Giddings not thinking where he'd got it from.
That did seem an odd question to ask. "When will you be releasing season ticket prices?" "... Well, we've sold 5,000 already!"
It wouldn't be unusual for a club to agree a deal in principle with a player's agent whilst he was on loan, especially if there was already a priority option to buy with his current club. If there is a deal, I assume there are a few caveats and different scenarios in it, but I don't think it's beyond the realms of possibility that we could have it already sewn up... (fingers crossed, eh?)
Then that makes it even more irrelevant if we're just taking a bung to put a player in the window, and why would you agree a fee in that case?
Because at the time we agreed the deal we might not have anticipated that there would be the other interest in him that there apparently is. If Orlando want to be able to sell him freely then there is a price at which Barnsley will surrender any option to buy.
Orlando said from the get go the release clause for 80% of his contract was $20m. Dane suggested it was some other figure. Time will tell just what happens, but I've been very uneasy about the possible deal on this from the start. Hopefully its a straight forward loan that has benefitted us on the pitch and the player goes to a club where he wants to play. Orlando get recompensed fairly and our league position has had some boost as a consequence.
To be fair, there have never been any direct quotes from Orlando, stating that fee. Just from reporters. There was an interview with some Orlando official, when he signed, where he said it was a fee that worked for both clubs. So, equally as vague as Dane's comments.
If we sign dk and If he continues in the same way scoring then no matter which league we are in some bigger team will come in for him and probably he (his agent) would have a clause that he could leave with certain clauses being met he will leave probably in Jan
If we are canny we will have an option on DD which will have to be bought out if he wants to go to a bigger club.
Can't believe he's not on a list of two and a half thousand famous people with the initials DM. https://memoempire.com/humans/initials/dm/
I thought one of the first interviews was with some Orlandoer that quoted something in that region as an 80% stake, but to be honest, I've slept since then. Either way. It's still down to the player unless there is a watertight contract with him, and I'm just not picking that up from the collective mood music.
