Hmm, Ritzy will stay in Austria permanently with his mate Patrick I'd think. ICD hasnt played any games at senior level at 23 years old. We'd have to Buy two new CM's whatever league we're in
Maybe we’ve bought out the sell-on clause, like Everton apparently tried to do with us with John Stones?
Ritzy was basically Strubers mate from his old club. Although to fair to him he was out of position at LWB. Not every player can adapt as well as Styles to position changes.
I guess the sell-on clause part of the contract could be treated as an asset and sold on? Not sure how the EFL rules work for that though, as it seems dangerously close to third party ownership. A possibility is that the administrators may have offered us a very good deal to buy out the clause for a bit of cash when Bury were going under, which would have gone towards covering their debts.
I think if any existing players were to take the LWB spot, I think Ben Williams or Liam Kitching would be more likely than Ritzmaier. If both those players were to leave, which seems likely, we're going to need one or two players to take us by surprise like Brittain and Sibbick have this season.
Theres absolutely no way on earth we've given anyone a price on any of our players with 5 games left of a season with a potential play off campaign starting. Absolutely nada.
I like all our players but the world doesn't revolve around them. I thought it was the end of the world when we were scrambling round for a striker then we signed Dike and Morris. The board brought in James to get things ticking in the middle of the park. I'd fancy them to bring in the correct quality should Mowatt leave and Styles be sold. If we do get decent dollar for Styles I'm sure it will be re-invested on better quality than it would if we didn't.
I'm with you on Mowatt but I'm disappointed. Fair does he can get bigger wages, but if we make the playoffs and he leaves for someone just for money I'll be really unhappy. Playoff contenders yeah, Preston or Stoke no.
Yeah. My point (badly made) was more around the timing. Seems very unlikely we’d be putting a number out at this stage of the season. Doesn’t really make sense. The number is very different if we’re a PL team next season, to the one if we’re not.
As I see it; the real danger is the blunts. I think he’s happy here, and the club fits him, and he’s got most of the way through his career and managed to stay close to ‘home’. If they offer him captaincy and a shed load more money, he’d struggle to refuse it.
You're probably not far off. Don't know if he'd become captain, but he could. And as I was saying, I wouldn't really begrudge him that as they'll probably be strong contenders next year and will pay a lot more than us, I just hope he doesn't go to someone mediocre for money after the season we've had.
