Strange lot https://hobnob.royals.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=188451&start=280 apparently we’ve been on a ‘freakish run’ ..... for about 35 games....
I don't get why people create expected goals tables, they just give you a table that doesn't reflect the actual results. I don't understand the statistical point of it. If someone could explain its benefits I'd be eternally grateful.
so are they... They've only amassed 45 points in their last 34 games since 22 points in the first 8 games. Reading are gonners, there's no need to worry. The 4 teams 3rd to 6th will be in the playoffs, it's just what order they finish. Start believing.
I've said it before, Reading's fans are the most deluded in the football league. They think they have some sort of entitlement because they've played a handful of seasons in the Premier League. I read on their last week that we have a harder run in than them, as the teams they're playing are near the top, so will be more complacent whereas we'll struggle because we're playing against teams near the bottom with something left to play for. They genuinely think that we've fluked our way to the top. It's got nothing to do with us limiting most of our opponents to no more than a handful of chances per game.
Someone needs to sign up there and put them right. Give them the knowledge of how they will not make the play offs even though they were top of the league after a quarter of the season...... https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/championship/formtabelle/wettbewerb/GB2?saison_id=2020&min=1&max=11 Paunovic sounds desperate with his over the top confidence of his players. He knows it's over for them...... https://www.readingfc.co.uk/news/2021/april/pauno-post-cardiff/
I’ve never got the “they’ve got an easier run in than us” claim as if it’s unfair. We all play each other over the season and no one knows who’s going to be in the mix either at the top or the bottom - just another excuse for it being unjust that Teams like Barnsley are upsetting their season.
I think the point some of them are making is reasonably valid. We have very much gatecrashed the top six. And of course we have earned the right to be where we are it's still very unexpected. The reality is if we don't go up next season before a ball is kicked Reading will be expected to finish above us. I'm comfortable with that and happy to enjoy the ride we are on.
Wasn`t their original nickname The Biscuitmen due to the fact Huntley and Palmers or someone similar used to be the main employer hence Hobnobs and nobbers ?
