FWIW I'd say the figure of $180k a year, or £2,500 a week sounds about right. If we don't go up then it's worth offering him a hefty sum per week and sticking a release clause on the contract in an attempt to keep him for another 6-12 months before he inevitably goes for a large fee. He might not sign without promotion, but if we can get him to, then breaking the salary structure is probably worth it, long term injuries aside.
Does anyone know for certain when his loan period ends? Everything I'd read before said it was to the end of the season, but I just read in this BBC article here that it's only until 21 April when MLS starts. Pretty sure that's rubbish, but are we 100% sure that he can't be recalled before the end of the play-offs?
No offence intended but that's a nothing article for BBC Africa. Hardly top tier journalism and it's not really a good source imo
Can’t say I agree with him there. Personally think he was saying that cos we were coming up against them. He’s played a dozen games. Don’t see how anyone can say he’s better than Toney or Pukki
Not gonna disagree with you there. Even the title suggests they think his name rhymes with Tyke - I mean, when he first arrived so did I until I checked... I guess it's a bit much these days to expect journalists to check facts.
Dane said the recall was related to appearances. If he wasn't playing enough he could be recalled but he thought it was easy for us to hit the target in terms of playing time. Given he's been playing every game and the club know how much he needs to play for us to keep him I very much doubt he'll be going back to Orlando before the end of the season.
See link below to Barnsley Chronicle article this week where Dane talks about the Dike loan https://www.barnsleychronicle.com/article/20658/murphy-barnsley-have-first-right-on-dike
I for one think he's better than Toney, What I so of him at Oakwell, and was glad to see the back of him Marc.
I'd say regarding the recall date that Orlando must surely have accepted that he's not going to be playing for them again. Whatever happens from this point they're going to be offered money from some club that they can't turn down and have a player on their hands who is going to want to explore one of the opportunities that he's earned. It hardly seems worth them yanking him back from us before the play off to play a few games for them before he inevitably departs.
Surely you've got to be able to see the difference in him now though? He was nowt more than a kid when he played for us, now he's banging them in for fun at the top end of the champ... To say that Dike is better than Toney because Toney was crap for us 5 years ago is daft.
Everybodys got an opinion, Colin does not think so and he knows every player in this league like the back of his hand.
Well, I'll put it this way to You, Marc and Danny Wilsons love child. I would sooner have Dike leading our forward line in our remaining fixtures than Toney, weird one like, but Yeah. Up the Colliers.
