Perfect táctics today. Out Barnsleyed Barnsley. Organized, aggressive, hard working. Nullified us better than any other side. To guide a club up two divisions while moving grounds, working under dodgy owners and nearly getting kicked out of the EFL. To do that, and then comfortably stay up is a fantastic achievement IMO.
His tenure was the most boring team ever produced in 30 years of me watching us. Dour man, dour team.
he reminded me of the guy who owned Highgate dog track a few years back, stood at side of pitch today
I disagree completely. I worked at the Club when he was manager. I found him to be honest, intelligent and always polite. Not dour, he had a dry sense of humour and was popular with the staff and players. I was in a meeting with Don Rowing in 2012 when the Coventry chairman rang to ask whether they should set Robbins on. Don gave an emphatic recommendation. His first tenure there resulted in him being sacked after a year with a win rate of 51%, which was ridiculous.
I liked Robins. Seemed to remember him effectively walking away when he felt the club weren't going to back him financially to progress the team. Today, I thought Barnsley played in sky blue.
I think he should be up there with Wilson's first spell, Bassett, Hecky ( for a year) and Val for what he achieved. Robins gave us an established Championship club. Before 2009 and after 2011 it wasn't.
Awful period, finished 18th by grinding out all semblance of football from games no wonder Cryne couldn't wait to get shut, his style of football was and is unwatchable, I view him as 3rd behind Morais and Glynn Hodges in worst a mangers in history of me watching us.
I thought he was absolutely awful as Barnsley manager and relied on expensive loan signings to keep us up. Boring, terrible football. People moan about Lee Johnson, but Jesus wept Robins was bloody awful. I don’t care that he got us to like 19th in the championship.
You must love lower bottom half finishes and watching paint dry. Looking at your recent negativity on Valerien, you’d absolutely combust at the football he serves up.
