Because they're the local club and it is something to do? These teams making their own league doesn't affect my enjoyment at all, in fact the only way it will impact our club is when loads of other clubs start going bust.
But many more games will not matter at all to the viewer. Including all the games in the Championship. I'd possibly stop going to Oakwell if there was no interest in going up or (more likely) avoiding going down.
I'm not quite following your point here. If these six clubs go and form their own league all it means is we finish six places further up the league. The English pyramid will continue without them. My point is the relegation "battle" in the prem isn't an incentive for me to watch it, so the absence of relegation in the super league wouldn't make it less interesting.
I enjoyed the Premier season because we got to see some of the best players in Europe play against us. We were in the top division of the pyramid. We lose the 6 and where are those historic wins against Liverpool and Man u? However if they do go there may be a positive in that we get football back for the true fans and stadiums will be full again.
Aside from the parachute payments. And as Wigan, Bolton, Portsmouth etc have shown, once you fall off that cliff edge you can be buggered. If the next TV deal is worth much less, which it will be if those six clubs are gone, every single Prem team will be facing that cliff edge.
They all can’t sit at the top of a super league. There are going to be what are now big clubs being the Sheffield United of the league getting tonked every week and sat at the foot of the table. That’s when the supporters will bog it off.
Luton have refused to join the super league, fan owned and all that. Neville was spot on - fair play to him
No worries mate. You said of the Premier League "I don't watch it now, and I don't think promotion/relegation makes it any more interesting". I thought you meant promotion/relegation from the Premier League didn't matter. In which case there'd be no promotion to it from the Championship.
Parachute payments last about 3 years don't they? The entire purpose of them is to get a few years for the club to reorganise and live within its new means
Let them go, 12 teams in one league with no promotion or relegation, banned from domestic cups, banned from champions league and Europe league What would they be playing for? Nothing, it might be good for them with sponsorship and get a load of money but for how long? 3 or 4 years? Imagine how boring it would be just playing to try and become top every year no excitement at all and always playing the same 12 teams fans will get fed up sponsorships will dissappear and I would love to see the likes of Manchester United fold because they can't get back into English league's after European super league has failed
If six Premier League sides want to do this then expel them end of this season from domestic Football, promote the Championship top six to take their places and have teams 7-10 do the play offs to replace the three that get relegated. Our leagues will carry on just fine without them.
**** em. They can go and play on the moon and join the Intergalactic League, for all I care. Good riddance. If they were playing in my front garden, I'd shut the curtains.
When are they due to bugger off? It would be just like us to get promoted in a season where the TV money gets cut by 90%.
I don’t know every little thing regards this, but to those who think it’s nothing, or just noise etc, it definitely isn’t. All six English clubs should be immediately thrown out of all existing competitions and good luck to them.
