I'm not sure Wednesday fans would stomach playing in a tinpot competition like that one.

It is absolutely disgraceful but doesn't surprise me anymore in football sadly.

Chuck them out and ban the players from national team too. We don't need them and their greed. Football will recover fine without them.

I think they should be told this is one threat too far....off you go.
How can they expect to play that midweek and ‘normal’ leagues in between, do they expect fixtures to be arranged around them?
It obviously means even less meaningful representation in domestic cup competitions than now ( if that’s possible)
Chuck em out and see how much of an honour it really is to play for your country!

Laughable when they're always moaning about how many games they have to play!

As a very minimum with this Swiss model new Champions League (Champions, lol) I'd give them the ultimatum of fieldin g full strength sides in the domestic cups or being disqualified.

I genuinely believe they shouldn't compromise with them at all. It should be all or nothing - stay or leave. It is about time the top teams wound their collective necks in and accept that they are in a privileged position compared to the likes of teams lower down the leagues fighting for survival year on year. Makes me sick.

I haven't read the entire thing, so apologies if this has already been covered.

So there are 15 founding members, I'm guessing these 15 teams are permanent fixtures. Then there are 5 additional slots for other teams from other competitions based on achievements in the previous season. Do those 5 teams get exiled from their domestic leagues as well? How would they (could they?) reintegrate once they inevitably get booted out the new league? I don't get it?

I don't think the founding teams think they'll get kicked out of domestic leagues.

Correct. They believe they can stay in the Prem and play their Super League games in between. That’s why the Prem, FA etc need to stay strong and come down on them like a tonne of bricks.

In my opinion, all 6 clubs that released that statement should be docked 30 points immediately and told if they ever bring it up again they’ll be banned from English football competitions until further notice. They’re pushing and pushing for more money and power, it needs stamping out now.

I wonder legally what can be done? Obviously docking 30 points won't happen but hopefully expulsion would be legal.

Suppose you’d have the read the constitution of the PL, FA etc but they must do the maximum that they can to punish them.

We all know these clubs are going to get their way eventually. The thing is I don't care. The end result is them f***ing off anyway. Once they do they'll never get a penny in revenue off me, not that they do now in any case.

€3.5 billion each for the founding members. Where the hell is that money coming from during a global crisis.

Ridiculous amount of money, I bet the clubs receive nowhere near that amount and it ends up in the accounts of the Glazers, Perez and the Henry's.

Football hasn't just been lost overnight, football was lost 29 years ago when the PL was formed. The likes of Sky and BT have contributed to its downfall with the obscene amount of money they are willing to pay for the rights to the games.

The weird kick off times to suit global audiences, FA Cup final at half 5 on a Saturday teatime, semi finals at Wembley.

The list goes on, I would love for us to get to the PL as the money from just one season would set our club up for a while and give us a chance to grow and develop like never before.

If you're not already doing it, get your kids, grandkids, nephews, nieces, all down to Oakwell at the first opportunity. Football is going to end up like Rugby, with two groups of people watching a similar, but slightly different, version of the same basic sport. For football, however, it'll be armchair fans watching the European Super League vs stadium supporters watching their local side playing live. Get the kids hooked now, before it's too late.
