Name a better striker to play for Barnsley FC than Dike ever?

He's as strong as they come, good in the air, scores lots of goals, holds the ball up well, a target man, links up play, a grafter and is a nice bloke to go with it.

Its not too early in his Barnsley career to go overboard.

Ashley Ward, maybe Fjortoft and Dyer. But Dike is probably going to play at the very top level and be better than all of them.

sadly we will not get him . Bigger fish will come in for him, and we simply not be able to compete in the bidding.

I think we might be in with a chance of getting him, we offer him first team football, that is not going to happen in the Premiership if he goes that way. He still has learning to do and another year with us would be ideal for him and the Reds

I don't think we can say that there are any. Of course we've had some great strikers who've done it over a longer period of time, but in terms of impact on the team I don't think any can claim to have had more than Dike.

Would like to see it clarified that he can play in the play-offs!

    We do.

It all depends if the player terms were also bagged.

Sadly I can't see that they were, so likely we've no chance unless we go up. Even then I think it would be slim.

And I'm so sad at typing that, because we might never see him in the flesh.

Think there's been better strikers and I'd even argue that Morris is currently a more complete player. However, he definitely has the potential to be better than any player I've seen in a reds shirt.

Ward, Currie, Fjortoft, not sure what we class Hignett as but him as well. Dike though has all the attributes to go to the highest level. More potential than anyone we’ve had though as a caution McBurnie looked unstoppable with us but failed in the PL.

Agree with nails, mate. A nearly finished ‘ product’. Lovely kid. Tailor made for Man U.
If I was him, I’d stay at Oakwell at least til jan 22 transfer window. See how the super league ******** pans out. Virus etc.

He’s the striker we’d been crying out for all season. Gets on the end of crosses to score

Tommy Taylor, a Barnsley lad. 28 goals in 46 appearances for BFC. 131 goals in 191 appearances for Manchester United. 16 goals in 19 appearances for England. Was effectively a £30,000 player when we sold him (i.e. top dollar in English football) and Manchester United rejected a £65,000 bid for him which would have been, at the time, one of the most expensive transfers of all time. Killed at Munich and buried in Monk Bretton Cemetery. The greatest ever player to come from Barnsley.

By a long, long way too.

That's no slant on Dike but we're getting carried away. Ward was just immense and I'd say not just Prem season his whole Barnsley career. Wasn't he on 15 goals when he stopped playing for us early November? Would have bagged 30+ that year easily.

I agree with all of that and I'd also say that he seems to give the players around him a lift too, he's made a massive difference to our team without a doubt.
