...6 clear with 9 to play for. Assuming Reading don't drop another point, we need a win and a draw from our last 3 to guarantee a play off spot(I'm saying a draw due to the goal difference, but give someone a tonking and even that is off the table). Once they are confirmed, I honestly don't know who I'd want in the semi-finals. We have had Brentford's number this past few years, and beat Bournemouth at their place. Swansea will be gutted they have dropped out of the race for the top too, so could be stinging and wanting to take it out on whoever they get. All in all, though. Exciting times ahead! You Super-mega Men, overhead kick scoring, mega-pressing, sometimes long ball playing, Big Val managed, play-off chasing Super Reds!
But it has been since end of Feb. See here https://www.twtd.co.uk/league-table...Aug-01/todate:2021-Feb-25/type:home-and-away/
You know what I mean, though. We know we simply need to, at the bare minimum, match Reading's results over the last three games. It's easier to look at 3 games and say we definitely don't need teams to do us favour(as it stands, anyway), than it is to look at 20 remaining games and saying the same.
It has been in our own hands since we entered the Top 6. Reading are also in freefall, have I mentioned they've only got 46 points in their last 35 games. I'm sure I've mentioned it once or twice
I can't see Reading getting 6 more points this season. It's not mathematically impossible for us to be overhauled, but its incredibly unlikely now and I wouldn't be surprised to see Reading implode now. A bit like Rotherham, they've had chances and not taken them.
So, if we have had to rely on Reading being in freefall, how was it in our own hands? I do get what you mean, though. I was just saying that it's a lot easier to look at 3 games and say that 4 points from 9 guarantee us a top 6 spot. It's much easier than say, with 10 games remaining we needed to with 6 and hope others drop points around us.
We didn't need other teams to drop points though mate. The true definition of in our own hands - when we're in the Top 6 Win our games they can't overtake us. Obviously we WILL lose games, just as others will do. Anyways, all hypothetical now, we're in the playoffs
Ideally I'd say we want Swansea in the semi final, but tbh if we finish 5th it'll probably be Swansea that drop to 6th
