Watching Sheff Utd versis Brighton. SU relegated and will end up with, perhaps, 20pts. How many of our team would be regular starters in their team? I think it's a small number.
You can't put individuals out if our team into theirs. We play as a team, all working for each other. Much like they did last season. For whatever reason, it has all gone wrong for them. There are very few of their players could get into our squad playing for Valerian. They don't have the drive or desire this season. Sander Berg is the only one I think would add anything to our team based on this year's performances. Maybe a couple more to strengthen the squad like McGoldrick and John Fleck.
I get what you're saying I do, but all our players will be well up for it if we go up. We can make some additions also, but I actually think a decent number of our lads can make the step up. Team spirit can add a lot to a squad of players. Collins, Andersen, Helik, Brittain, Styles, Mowatt, Dike and Collins are players that I'm confident would be able to feature next season if we were to go up. Maybe not as first choice for all of them, but I wouldn't be worried about any of them coming off the bench at the very least. Add to that Walton, Palmer, Woodrow, Sibbick, Sollbauer (if we offer him an extension) who I think could surprise a few.
Conversely, how many of their players do you think Big Val would want in our team? Curiously, I think that might be a small number also. I also think this group of players we've got would have put up a better fist of playing in the PL this season, especially with VI at the helm.
Can’t quite explain why, but I just don’t like it when folk do that ‘aah, but you once said this...’ thing. I liked Status Quo as a 6 year old and later in life, their music made my **** itch. Tastes and opinions change.
Hopefully it will be taken as a tongue-in-cheek jest, rather than me going "ah, gotcha!". In the same post I'm very dismissive of Watford, which turned out well.
Maybe but I’ve watched a few Prem games this season and bottom half of table I reckon we could give anyone a game
We all should be held to account for what we have previously posted, because what's the point of posting in the first place if you don't believe what you're posting? By the same token everyone should be allowed to say that they've changed their mind, without let or hindrance.
Sheff Utd finished 9th last season, not sure what's happened this season other than other teams understand how they play?
To be honest i would expect nothing apart from relegation but looking at the big picture the parachute payments would put the club on a great footing financially going forward...
They were an excellent team but didn’t have excellent individuals. Henderson went back to Man Utd, O’Connell has missed pretty much all season & Egan, Fleck & Berge have missed large chunks of the season. They’ve lost pretty much the spine of the team. Take Collins, Helik, Anderson, Mowatt & Palmer out of our team for a few months & I’m sure we’d have dropped like a stone. Would we have got a few players into the current Sheff Utd team that have struggled? Yes. Helik, Anderson, Mowatt & Dike for me. Possibly the wing backs but in fairness Baldock & Stevens were excellent last season & are probably struggling due to playing in an unsettled side. Would we have got a few players into the Sheff Utd team that finished top half last season? Probably not. Maybe Dike but that’s about it. It’s a good comparison though.
Giving someone a game and scraping together enough points to fight relegation are different things. Seems I'm alone in thinking we'd struggle if we made it through the play offs. For absolute clarity I would be delighted if we got into the pkay offs and won our place in the top division. Just the magnitude of the potential task in hand has dawned on me.
