We didn't have any in 1999/2000 either. The only difference is this season we're happy to be there instead of disappointed we've fe cked up automatic.
There's no point worrying about them. It's that tough to call this year. Yes we're against bigger clubs with better budgets but it's the 11 v 11 that counts. In that respect all four teams are equally matched.
Just wait until the play-off final when we're 1-0 up and the ref adds 6 mins injury time..............
Why would they be? Did you expect a top 6 finish? We basically have a few free hits whoever we play . Bournemouth are in **** creek financially if they dont go up. Stress and pressure. Swansea have players out of contract ((Ayew for one) plus a number of loanees going back and no parachute payments to come. Stress and pressure. Brentford will be thinking "here we go again" Whilst selling players (Watkins and Benrahma) they have also shelled out a fair bit and carry a lot of debt. Stress and pressure Hurrah for the underdog.
Eighteen years ago today, we beat Brentford 1-0, with a late, late goal from Rankin to avoid relegation back into the bottom division. Now THAT was stressful, that was pressure. Being in the Championship Play Offs with two games to go? Nope, not in the slightest.
18 years, it doesn't seem that long ago i remember it well and i flew to Las Vegas day after feeling id already won the jackpot!
I lost my mind as much as I ever have, when Rankin scored. I don't think we'd have survived as a club if we'd gone down, and it was Wigan away on the last day, which we had no chance in.
Better budgets yes, bigger clubs? Naaah. Apart from Swanseas few years in Prem. We have nothing to fear. Excited!
We were crap all that season. It surprised me too because even though we entered admin we still had the team that went down.
Weirdly, this season for me feels like it did when we won the playoffs in 2016. For me there’s no pressure on us, smallest budget, youngest team etc. Etc. none of the others seem to be enjoying the ride, to some extent they’ve all failed and are worse off than they were last season. As others have stated, they all have ageing squads or big money players who won’t be there next season if they don’t go up. We are not better than any of them but we are certainly their equals so as much as not getting promoted will be a disappointment nothing that happens can be described as a failure and it’s for that reason I think, just a tiny bit, that we are gonna do it.
