Trouble is everyone will be amending their processes and negating the advantages. Unless of course they are holding some key aspects, important subtleties, back from the press. I hope so.

Yep, once everyone starts doing it or we run out of up and coming managers who use the press we'll need to change our strategy!

We'll still have divisional retention and vertical hoofiness to fall back on. Nobody will ever take that from us.

In I'd be very surprised if there's much scouting in person any longer for any team.

I thought it was a good read & explains the theory behind the strategy , I found that point about letting a fans favourite go of interest, with the situation around our captain at this current time , I wonder how hard they are working to keep him .

Would have thought more likely to refer to Hammill than Mowatt.
I thought most interesting thing was his admission of having all the clubs playing the same style to enable players to move around.

The three pillars to PMG’s version of Moneyball are fear, surprise, ruthless efficiency and an almost fanatical devotion to the pope.

Mr Conway went quiet last season, I wonder why he's not hiding anymore?

Surely it is more a case of journalists are now contacting them for an interview, now there is success to talk about. Last season's "small club with small budget struggles" wasn't a remarkable story.

The most interesting part to me:

“Three years ago we decided if we’re going to have multiple clubs, we have to have one style of play because there are efficiencies between clubs and then you can move players around,” Conway said.

Mentions moving players around between their clubs - we've seen Mcgeehan and Sibbick go to Oostende, I wonder if we could see some players come the other way?

Looks like the young centre back Theate is highly rated, maybe he could come our way

Many clubs are already using data to identify players, it's not especially new. Isn't that how Leicester scouted Mahrez and Kante?

If widespread use of Moneyball tactics leads to better managed spending in the game, it can only be a good thing. Trouble will come if multiple clubs in the championship start to identify the same players as we are doing, offer them stupid money, and spark even more lunacy in the championship. Though some are too lazy for that, and will just offer the likes of Ashley Fletcher a salary way beyond what is justified.

He has pinched the Jordan William's haircut but if he scored a winner for us it would be the Theate of dreams.....

I buy into all of that except the bit about 'not re-signing a popular veteran player'. I guess Mowatt will leave, whether or not we get promoted. Sollbauer and Frieser won't be around for long too.

It’s going off at a tangient but I hate the term ‘Moneyball’ when used about us. Lazy journalism because of the Billy Beane link.

Moneyball isn’t a thing in football, the game is too fluid for it to be possible. What we’re doing is simply trying to make the club self sufficient using the transfer market (and other avenues).

Not too sure about all the clubs being run the same way either. Has the suggestion of feeder or nursery clubs which I'm not keen on.

If new players are to be brought in then some players that are already here must be allowed to be moved on.
