There’s more to this than meets the eye. They clearly don’t and haven’t ever got on, but it’s deeper than that. She remains the deputy leader given that is an elected role - so this could get very interesting. My personal view is that Labour might be better off with Rayner as leader than Starmer - he’s a safe pair of hands and solid but he’s not going to compete against the box office buffoon. Unfortunately we are living in a time of personality politics, not policy. Though it might be nice to hear some policies.
I think he initially tried to accommodate Long-Bailey, Rayner and Corbyn but each in their own way have bogged up. But there can be little doubt now that it's a fight for the soul of the party. Rayner will be in the same difficult position as Tom Watson was under Magic Grandpa. It's going to be interesting watching. De Pfeiffel will be enjoying this, regrettably.
She was in charge of campaigning. Nobody could say she orchestrated great campaigns this time around and has rightly been relieved of such responsibility.
He's never had it. The media made sure he got the job because he was a safer leader than Corbyn who wouldn't harm their financial benefits they get from a Tory government
Starmer gone by September, Burnham and Rayner nailed on to be the front two. They can work together, it's time to purge folk like Streeting who are snivelling Tory lite tossers who love the trappings of union funds but do nothing for them. Starmer's team undermined the election strategy by all accounts. Streeting tipped for new party chair.
Social media and union groups energised the Corbyn election. The mainstream were late to the party, and only towards the end did they take his challenge seriously. Before that they ran stories that he was a joke candidate.
I know personally of Conservative supporters who took up the cheap £3 membership option specifically to support Corbyn.
The Fabian society what was once a noble and principled organisation is now the issue which is holding back Labour. They want their candidates in the big seat. These candidates usually are Oxbridge educated and are pleasing on the eye and well spoken. Until we get someone in place who looks and sounds like a real person and is able to communicate on real issues without sounding like a politician the party is doomed.
Wasn't that many Tories who voted, students and TU members got him in. Most members were sick of the Tony Blair Fabian Society clones which were being put forward. Labour need a straight talking Northerner in charge, who doesn't mince their words and attacks. Rayner regularly takes the Tories to the cleaners. She'd go after Boris, and my god she's got enough to go after.
Starmer's an absolute disaster. Apparently demoting Nandy too. There'll be a leadership challenge in no time. What a clown. And what a cluster**** this party has become post-Corbyn. But Corbyn.
The ones I knew of actually did. I suppose we'll never know how many more just spoke of doing it. Bad business.
