Dangerous man, needs taking off our streets! Hopefully there’s an update to this where nobody other than the man got hurt and he’s been arrested.
Erm, I never ever got that, I did ask for an explanation but never received one. Am I being a bit dense?
No need for someone to film that for social media hits. The guy clearly has bad mental health and needs serious help and him being filmed could have triggered something much worse.
It's taking the piss out of the Daily Mail/Right wing tory voting, immigrant hating stereotypical response that you get. Those who claim that the "snowflake lefties" are making it that being English is bad. It's an especially common sight on UKIP/BNP/EDL facebook pages, and the Daily Mail's comments section where they like to claim that "saying you're English will get you thrown in jail", especially on posts where a random council has asked for St. George's cross flags to be taken down, or they have asked a person to paint over their giant red cross they painted on their house because it looks an eye sore...
I certainly wouldn't be going up to someone with a crossbow in hand in the small hours of the morning to say "oi, wot tha doing?" and I definitely wouldn't be hanging around after he'd already pointed it at me once. It's weird how some people think they're invincible if they're filming.
Neither would I, but I think his intention was to attempt to stop him. You may argue that was a daft thing to do but it was also very brave.
Police statement regarding this incident https://southyorks.police.uk/find-o...t-following-incident-in-barnsley-town-centre/
Shocking, scary, and extremely dangerous. Why the idiot filming thought it was appropriate to approach him is beyond me.
From SYP At around 1.29am this morning (Sunday 9 May) we received reports of a man in possession of a crossbow in Barnsley town centre. The man was located on police CCTV and was seen to be threatening members of the public on Peel Street. Armed response officers were immediately deployed to the scene. Superintendent Paul McCurry said: “Prior to their arrival, unarmed officers on routine public order duty approached the man using their shields to protect members of the public. “Their actions resulted in the man dropping the weapon, which was safely recovered. “The man then ran from officers, climbing onto the bridge on West Way. Due to the skills of officers at the scene, he was swiftly detained and brought to safety.” A 31-year old man from Barnsley was arrested on suspicion of Section 3 Public Order Act Affray and remains in police custody at this time. No-one was injured during the incident. Supt McCurry continued: “This was a serious incident which was distressing for those who saw it unfold. “Our officers showed their absolute commitment to public safety this morning, they responded very quickly with limited protection to safely resolve the incident. “Clearly our investigation into this incident is continuing and it is vital that anyone who saw what happened gets in touch with us. If you have any information, photos or video footage that might help us, please contact 101 quoting incident number 75 of 9 May.
