1. Barnsley finishing in the championship playoffs 2. Accrington finishing top half league 1 with the 90th biggest budget in the EFL and no training ground of their own. 3. Morecambe finishing 1 point off the automátics, 18 places higher than their 5 year average. For me, these 3 HAVE to be the team of the year in their respective leagues. All stunning achievements IMO.
Very impressive on all counts. On the flipside, some lovely relegations this year, Blunts, Wendy's and the lovely Joey Barton. I dont take delight in this but Southend in freefall, from league 1 to conference in two years.
I know I'd say this but for me, the biggest achievement is Barnsley reaching the Championship playoffs. This after being bottom of the league with 1 minute of injury time remaining in the penultimate game of last season (Forest at home), then still facing relegation with 1 minute of injury time remaining in the last game of the season.
That to me is probably amongst the major highlights of Barnsley FC and how far this team have come in such a short space of time. I absolutely love this team, the ethos and the way they have developed. COYR
having grown up in Accrington for a good while, they were northern premier division at the time (and I division below that at one point if I recall properly), it's incredible they are a league club at all, Coleman should be winning manager of the year every year they are in in the EFL. Other small clubs have come up but normally with some financial backing, but not Stanley.
