I got it because I have a big garden and the range of the firing wouldn't get from one end to the other and even if it did I have a brick wall at the end and I wanted to shoot cans as a bit of fun but when I got it home I was too scared to use it so it's been sat unarmed on my fireplace for 5 years now

Bobby knutt was light years in front of today's life experience comedians. Dare I say even Peter kaye. Not knocking today's lot. Some very funny comics. But comedy doesn't belong to just the 21st century. Best double act ever imho. Morcambe and wise. But some may say laurel and Hardy.
This list doesn't include the likes of Jasper Carrot and Mike Harding. Bob Monkhouse . Jimmy Tarbuck. the great Tommy Cooper. Ken Dodd. Jethro. Billy Connoly etc

You've never saw Charlie Williams I assume. Charlie told jokes taking the piss out of foreigners and Race. ( That, believe me was seen as acceptable, because he was black. Some of the stuff he said. Others would have been crucified) Not knocking Charlie. I saw him several times.(watch some of his stuff. and tell me where you stand) Where do you draw the line.
Bernard was his own worst enemy admitted, and screwed up on Mrs Merton. That's when folk in general turned on him. He wasn't my cup of tea. neither was Chubby. Times were different. Humour comes in all guises. It's sad that the extreme PC brigade have taken umbrage to everything.

Except obscene language.

I bought one one online about 10 years ago, used them on holiday and thought they were great fun. Bought from an Archery supplier along with impact foam target etc, had to send them a copy of my driving licence and a photo of me holding the driving licence to prove I was over 18.

I asked you a reasonable question. Because Charlies brand of humour was acceptable. And is still rife throughout other races taking the mick out of people of other races. ( send foriegners back to where they came from. was a favourite of CW's)
I have an open mind and don't look for something that on the whole is not there. I have yet to hear criticism on a wide scale. Of these comedians. We laugh along with them.
On Manning. You say his brand of humour. People found him funny whether we liked him or not. He was a regular on the comedians alongside Charlie. Yes. some of his stuff wasn't acceptable in today's world. . The vast majority was.( Pretty sure he wouldn't have been on so long if he had used some of his club material.) No one turned off. And he was popular at the time. Times have changed. Admittedly for the better.

 

I agree in the whole, but Jim Bowen was brilliant with the working class lads on Bullseye, and seemed to have a genuine affection for normal working people on the north of England.
Like I said, agree apart from that.

But on that point tha must have had thi chuckle glands removed. Or tharra bairn. Can just see thi int audience. Face as long as a fortnight. Whilst everyone else is laughing their tits off.

 

Totally get that mate. Target practice is a fun and engaging thing to do. There are many disciplines in the Olympics concerned with that - skeet shooting, archery, pistol shooting. And even for someone like me who isn't skilled in that sort of thing, the shooting games at the fair when I was a kid were probably some of the most fun times I've had. And Tin Can Alley that used to be advertised on the TV when I was a kid was top of my Christmas list for years. I never got it and still feel a bit sad.

I totally get the impulse buy you made, and like you, if I'd done the same, I think I may have got home and thought, "fk*c that, I'm going kill myself or the wife or next door's cat here because I'm just not qualified to do this!"

Life's supposed to be fun. Many people have fun shooting at are target. I don't know why, but it's fun. I love ten pin bowling, which is kind of the same, just a little more sedate. The feeling you get when you hit what you're aiming for is brilliant. I'm no good at it even though I love it, which makes those rare occasions when I get a strike even more joyous. I definitely don't think guns and crossbows and bows and arrows should be banned. I just think they should only be available at clubs where we can be shown how to use them properly by professionals. I'd actually quite like to fire a crossbow, but in an environment where I feel safe because someone I trust is telling me what to do.
