Look at their form despite making the play offs they had gone massively backwards since putting him in charge. I’m friends with a Tranmere supporter he’s messaged me this morning delighted with this news.

Gone backwards since putting him in charge? He was appointed in bloody November, when they were in the lower half of the table with 15 points from twelve games. He got 58 points from 34 league games - had he been in charge all season at that ppg rate he’d have finished a point behind bolton who got automatic promotion.

In all competitions he had 40 games, won 20 drew 10 lost 10. That is promotion form.

I’m not a big Keith Hill fan, I did think he was poorly treated here but did himself no favours - but what Palios has done today is absolutely ridiculous and I hope sincerely Tranmere get what they deserve in the playoffs: to be torn a new one.

He’s a victim of his own success - he got them to within a couple of points of the top three and they fell away. But he took over a team in 15th in the league. To say they’ve gone backwards massively since he took over is blatantly completely wrong.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not a big Keith Hill fan, but to sack him when in the playoffs is a ludicrous decision

I agree completely they were nowhere near challenging for the playoffs until Hill took over, he had them flying until Vaughan and Jay Spearing got injured, both key players at that level.

Keith did a good job getting them into the playoffs despite injuries to key players and should have been given the chance to finish the job.
I'm sure he only had a contract until the end of the season which depended on getting promotion for it to be renewed.

Tranmere fans all seem chuffed with the decision and they can't all be wrong.

Blunts did similar with Wilson a number of years ago and put Morgan in charge for the playoffs....hope Tranmere have similar outcome.

I quite liked Keith Hill, and he did an amazing job until he had his team disbanded. From that, similar to Heckingbottom, he became more bitter and channelled that against the fans, whereas Heckingbottom did so against the club itself.

I think his sides try and play football which i admire, and it seems an odd thing to sack someone when in the playoffs. Something must surely have gone off behind the scenes for that.

Odd season all round for Tranmere. They sacked a manager at the start of the season who barely managed any wins. The caretaker won 5 on the bounce then Hill got the job. It’s fair to say he got them in play offs but they should have gained automatic really but their form fell off a cliff. He was playing a left back at striker and signed David Nugent who had little or no impact.

He then did a usual Keith Hill of slagging off the fans, and the players and watch his interview after Saturdays game and it’s clear he’s lost the dressing room too. Look at the reaction from Tranmere fans on Twitter no one is even criticising the decision except fans of other clubs.

If you look at the way Paul Warne conducts himself at Rotherham and Scott Parker does at Fulham. Accepting the constraints of the club. It should be a lesson in conduct for such as Hill, Heckingbottom and Struber. Sulking isn't an endearing feature.

I don't disagree. Where I think Hill is different is that he pretty much seeks conflict from the fans from day one. Whether he feels that motivates him or protects his players making him the focal point for criticism, I'm not fully sure. He doesn't need to do it and I'd hoped he'd moved on from that sort of style, but it seems not.

Thanks for that. Seems harsh him being sacked looking at that. But then looking at the last dozen games you can see why he has been sacked.

Mark Palios "it gives us the best chance of promotion"

    Very strange decision.
