I hope you can find time to read this thread and the comments below prior to the game on Monday night. From a personal point of view can i just say how proud i am of you and how much happiness you have brought me during some very testing times for myself and many other Barnsley fans. To finish 5th in the league and to reach the play offs for only the 4th time in the clubs history is such an amazing achievement and you should all be very proud of yourselves. On Monday you will get to play in front of 4500 home fans. I hope it sounds like 45000. Even playing in empty stadiums all season long we have been with you and backing you every step of the way. From here on in all we can ask is you go out on the pitch and do your best and what ever happens happens. Thank you for making me proud and thank you for helping me escape some very dark moments. You play off reaching reds! Stuart.
“Far better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though chequered by failure, than to take rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy much nor suffer much, because they live in the grey twilight that knows neither victory nor defeat.” Theodore Roosevelt.
If it sits up hit it. If you run into the box from the flank look up. If there's nowt on hit it. Don't usher the ball out, make sure. If you are hitting one make sure it stays hit. Don't dally on the ball, be decisive even if it means row z.
This is a sincere and heartfelt thank you to the management, players and staff for a truly wonderful season. The spirit you have shown in such difficult circumstances is inspiring and you have all made us very proud and provided a beacon of light and joy in what has been a dark year. We know that many of you have been away from family and friends more than you would want to be, but your constant and all consuming efforts are a credit to you all and we thank you for it. On the pitch, the will to succeed and the effort you all make is fantastic to see and whatever happens in the last two or three games, know that we will always appreciate everything you have done this year. Do your best, dare to dream and show the world just how talented you are.
What Chansari called the Battle for Survival is over. The Battle for Promotion is about to begin. And so let us brace ourselves to our duties and so bear ourselves That if Oakwell and it’s faithful last for a thousand years Men will still say “This was their finest hour.”
You're all underdogs, the establishment think your achievements are just a nice little story. Embrace this label, enjoy yourself, make the supposed big boys and media darlings know the pressures on them. No better way of doing this than playing our own game and press them like mad men. Remember Champions League and FA Cup finalists struggled to cope with it.
All I ask as a s/t holder is blood, toil, tears and sweat. Never in the field of human cornflakes has not much been asked of so few by so many, so often in so many fields of sunlit uplands. All I want is a room somewhere Far away from the cold night air With one enormous chair, some cake and some beers Oh, wouldn't it be loverly?
Is it recording? I can't see the light on......you sure,......I'm telling you there's no light on at the front....here let me look at it.
What a fantastic season we have had. We've recruited some talented players in Helik, Brittain, Morris and the loan of DK. Without doubt though, the best recruitment has been that of the Head Coach - Valerien Ismael. What a find and what a person he is! He has instilled belief and motivation into the whole squad and managed to get the best out of fringe players as well. We have smashed many 2nd Tier records this season, so there's only one thing left to do.... Let's do this!
We've just had our best season at this level for 21 years. We've seen some wonderful football, brilliant goals and 100% commitment from all the players and staff. We're proud of our club. We have a truly outstanding Head Coach. We fear no one. WE'RE ARE PROUD OF EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU AND WE THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING YOU'VE ACHIEVED.
