Any news on the supplier ? Puma I believe was in the last year last season. We have had a few decent ones but would be good to have Hummel or Under Armour or someone different and do shirts to fit the er Barnsley man figure. Don’t as a rule buy them but as a RR+ we get one and the Yellow XXL one I got this season has shrunk in lockdown not changed wash liquid or owt which seems strange, it has got tight round my navel. Could be washing machine, anyway got to take some beer cans to recycling!
I always liked the Denmark Hummel kit and think Middlesbrough had something very similar, recently, too. I think we’d really suit Hummel with us playing in red. But I also think Adidas would do the best leisurewear range.
Beaver. In black mohair with a Brazilian theme. Away kit with a full on 70s vibe bellowing out of the shorts.
Just thinking about this slightly more. And a couple of thoughts spring to mind. If our style, whoever the coach is, is to press hard and use fitness and physicality, is there any research about colours or patterns that intimidate more than others, or make a person seem bigger, or a blurred pattern that confuses or distracts that might assist us if we're running round like heathens? I've said many times before that I wish we'd put down a marker and say every away kit (and really, lets be done with third kits, there really is very little need) will have black in it. Ideally predominantly, but at least some. The final thought, I want us to be different to other clubs and although commercially, I can see some slight hindrance to this, it would be fantastic to buck the trend and say, we're going to make a kit that lasts for two years. What we then want is for every fan to have the latest kit and wear it for games to create a sea of red, or black if an away game. I don't know what the figures are or if research has been done into what impact it would have on take up, but instead of this never ending flow of 3 kits a year, it makes it easier for people to afford and have the latest things that identify with the club.
The problem with having the same colour away kit each year is that people stop buying them because they're samey. Agree about the two year thing though. Obviously I don't know the figures but I'd imagine you'd sell a lot more kits that last two years than one. Possibly more than double the amount anyway?
I could be wrong but I think there's quite a lot of people who buy the away kit for variety and only but the home every few years because they're so samey. I know I'm far more likely to buy our away kits than home for this reason
It’s still Puma. Home is red. Away is a colour we haven’t had for a long time. Can’t remember the third one.
Just seems to be how it is. Home kit is the Club’s identity, I don’t think away kit is. I reckon most if not all clubs are the same. In fact I’m struggling to think of a Club that has the same colour away kit every year.
Youre right. Back in the day when my lads were toddlers, I bought them the away kit every season. Bought them about 12 each over their younger years.
I believe dazzle camouflage might be what you're after... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dazzle_camouflage
Hmmm 20/21: red. white. Yellow 19/20: red. Blue. White 18/19: red. Black 17/18: red. White. Blue 16/17: red. Navy. White 15/16: red. Black 14/15: red. Yellow 13/14: red. Blue 12/13: red. Blue/black strips 11/12: red. White 10/11: red. White Conclusion. Green
Let’s hope they market the strips with the right description this time. Home kit. Away kit. 3rd kit. This season has been a bit of a con. On that front. The white kit should have been described as the 3rd kit at best, or training top. Imho ie.
Kids grow quickly, therefore a new shirt every season is not out of the way. Yes, they are pricey, relatively or otherwise, but they never seem to have them off their back. They’re hard wearing and ideal for beach holidays. How much are popular brand tee shirts that you may have bought had they not had a club shirt? Until recently, I wore a red Lotto one with the Barnsley Building Society logo on. The shirt itself is in perfect condition, it was always a good fit, ie, Medium meant medium, not tight, not too baggy. The white logo is cracking and splitting now though. I liked the lotto ones but I heard supply was a bit of problem with them.
