Despite Swansea having good players such as Jamal Lowe, Conor Hourihane etc.. We all know Andre Ayew is by far Swansea’s key player. For one I hope we have a strong minded Referee as we all know Ayew will try & ref it himself, we’ve seen that kind of player before, but obviously he is also a very skillfull & intelligent player. So how do we approach this? Clearly we play our own game & don’t worry about how the opposition set up, but do we opt for more experience at the back in Sollbauer? Or do we go with pace in Sibbick? Obviously we play slightly different depending which one of those two play. Personally I think we should start with Solly at the back, his experience could be invaluable. Stop Ayew = Barnsley win IMO.
I agree with you as regards Sollbauer. Daft as it sounds I still fancy us to go through to the final if we draw the first leg and Swansea are forced to come at us in the second. The away game is the most important one for me.
If he plays on Styles side then leave it to him. Up there with the most successful tackles in the league with minimal bookings.
Have they given the Sahara its sand back yet? The Oakwell pitched looked like it was recovering a little over the last few weeks, if Swanseas hasn't and the game is close after the first leg, that could really be a slugfest.
Remember as a kid us defenders were told if you haven't kicked the player you're making up in the air within the first 5 minutes you haven't done your job properly.... this now is a yellow card and you are hanging on for the next 85
I agree Ayew is the main threat. He came on as a sub against Reading and looked different class. He's clever and will use his experience to draw fouls etc. I'd definitely go for Solly regardless of who he's up against. I'm not convinced with Sibbick. Pace keeps being quoted but that's generally because his reading of the game is poor. Solly is less likely to be exposed and "old manned". It will be interesting to see what Val decides. Either way he's knows better than us ....COYR
